The only Audi I have ever owned is the one I have now. It's a 2010 A4 3.2 Avant Quattro with the sport package. It may not handle like a good three series but it is rock steady on the Autobahn and not shabby elsewhere. There are more than a few curves in Switzerland and realizing that it isn't a little sports car, the handling is more than adequate. It may not be an S4, but I am very happy with it.

Looks like a great deal- and that's from a fellow audi-basher!

390mm discs now available for 'subtle' german estate cars? What is the world coming to!

Enjoy wink

Chris very happy to see you make this purchase. i bought a b8 2.oT non-quattro manual avant last year and it is easily the worst car I have ever owned - but (as i now realise) solely because of the powertrain/spec i went for. i have suspected that with adj dampers, the 3ltr TFSI, DSG and quattro it would be a good package but have been too scared to make the same mistake twice.........you may just have convinced me to go for it! 15k is a bargain though - looks more like 20k for a sensible one on the open market.......

Now that I've seen the awful silver wing mirrors I can't unsee them!
I expect you can get a normal grill from a breaker pretty easily. Remove the V6T badges, get some slightly less blingy wheels amd some red wing mirrors - ultimate sleeper.

Any humdrum TDI rep special has comparable alloys so no need to deprive us of them, otherwise spot on.

I personally love to see cars being used properly instead of treated like pampered objet d'art. Folk sometimes seem too afraid of the resale value/neighbour's sneers, the ultimate extension of which is folk who leave seat covers on, or the film on their new phone/watch/dvd player.

The stuff exists to serve us, people, not the other way round! More smelly dog, less "detailing"!

I mean seriously? it's a 3yo series production audi estate, that hasn't been washed in a while that's all. I know CH swans round in shiney new flash motors the entire time, but a 3yo audi, even one that perhaps hasn't been treated to a wash every 3days isn't exactly SHEDing now is it ;-)

And as to the +75bhp from a software change - i call custard on that one too!
Excellent. A video in a few weeks time should prove you wrong on both counts. Oh, here's the front PU. There's much more too.

First rule of judging a car in photographs, make sure you can see both sides before passing sentence. I'll give you that one for free - might save you a few quid in future!

And here's the video with the S4 in it when it was a press car. Took a bit of a thrashing that day!

Fast forward to 3min 53sec: should hopefully prove that I'm happy to buy the cars that I've used and abused.

I'm back!

Wow, that is some attractive value for money for a desireable and fruitily vocal family wagon.

Am I right in thinking that anything 55 plate or older will have sensible road tax too?

Did a B7 RS4 not appeal, Chris?
Think it's a bit like the whole 'Conti GT/Footballer' thing....

...other owners of such cars can really influence a buyers decision...

A mate of mine who does detailing - and who I insist on giving lifts to so he can revel in a total waste-paper-bin of a car - says that dog smell is uniquely hard to get rid of because it's a mix of piss, scent gland secretions and decaying dander (dog skin - the stuff those lightweight people who complain about your dog are allergic to) - e.g. it's technically 'alive' smile

His solution is pretty drastic, includes some chemicals he wears a mask when using and then he "bakes" the car interior with a few portable heaters until the plastics are almost melting - and it works but it costs a fortune. He transformed a 407SW from 'total shed' to 'showroom mint' recently - I genuinely didn't think it was the same car.

So, boot liners then - well worth the cash!

75 is a whole lot from a remap alone, the most I have seen in the past is circa 35-45bhp increase, unless this is at the flywheel rather than than the wheels, which could then be slightly more possible

I was considering exactly the same spec of S4 for a couple of months before boringly deciding to lease a BMW diesel; one of the things which put me off was the water pump being a bit flaky, which out of warranty would be a real liability since you could take out the engine before you'd switched off. Let us know how it goes, Mr Harris.

I've got the B6 S4 still - I keep looking at RS4 and the B8 S4 longingly!

The B6 has devalued quite a lot recently though - my 65k mile '54 plate manual avant with some nice options is around £7-£8k! A V8 isn't exactly sought after these days.

Tax isn't bad though - £270ish (to answer Matt above)

An extra 75 hp from a 3 litre forced induction engine isn't too hard to believe. Mine runs close to 400hp out of 2 litres! This guy dynoed his on the same day on the standard and the Revo tune and got that much uplift:

That's on US spec 93 octane too, so 400 on UK premium sounds eminently do-able.

Great cars, the B8 S4 3litre V6T (Supercharged) unit is a much better motor than the old boat anchor B7 S4 4.2 V8.
I can see a B8 S4 Avant being my next purchase in a few years time....big fan of these.

Following with interest.
