Hey Guys, I have an 18mth old S4 Avant. I down sized from an RS6 Avant, yes, really !!.

I was fed up of towing round two tonnes of technology, not being able to use the performance ( loads of speed cameras around these parts ), and being scared of parking it in public, yet unable to exceed 18mpg.

The S4 is eminently usable, quite fast enough for the public roads, and like CH says, it doesn't attract any unwanted attention. It rides very well, and the boss says she much prefers it to the RS6, as it doesnt feel like you are riding in a guided missile !!??.

I also got thousands back from the Audi dealer, hundreds back from the insurers, and cheaper VED.

Very happy bunny !!.

And as to the +75bhp from a software change - i call custard on that one too!
It's nonsense. The 3.0T in the S4 regularly dyno's in standard trim at ~370hp. So on the plus side, the book figures are wildly under-quoted (probably to save encroaching on the RS4 sales too much perhaps?) so out of the box you're getting more than you bargained for. But the flip of this is that an additional 75hp is not what you'll get from a map, but rather more like 30-40hp.

Worth checking out that previous stage 1 video. 89ps uplift, same car, same dyno, from a filter and remap.

Rubbish.

Most of the stock cars dyno'd have been around the 340ps mark.

Really? Mine recently dyno'd a SRR in totally bog standard trim, 57k miles on the clock, and recorded 373hp at the fly. I have seen many reports on Audizine of these cars dyno'ing well over the stock 333ps figure, and Charlie (vixpy1) wasn't surprised.

There is the benefit from the 6-speed of a 400rpm higher rev limit (the DSG shifts at ~6800rpm, whereas the limit on the manual doesn't cut in until 7200rpm).

I will upload the graphs later.

ETA: First thread I found on a Google search - http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=27753... ...

Not such rubbish in my experience..

Think you need to do your research a little better.

They are making more than the stock figure but not averaging anywhere near 370-380PS. I've seen figures from 341PS right up to 358PS. This is all backed up on the SRS forums too.

Chris +3 to get the S4 to MRC.

My S4 with MT, dyno'ed at 355hp standard and after a stage one map and upgraded air filter...462hp, 539nm. I don't know if the revo map is a custom map but the MRC map is. Its such a great Q-car now and am finding even the stock exhaust is starting to sound better at 48k miles.

Yep Doug mapped my B5 RS4 (custom remap) and it totally transformed the car, it should have had the MRC map from factory biggrin

15hp/20nm is what MRC offer according to the link below. Normally aspirated cars have many qualities, but giving up simple power to remaps isn't one of them... That V8 does sound good though!

Slightly improve driveability and maybe a slight improvement in fuel economy, but its not forced induction so there's not much to be had just fiddling with the mapping
