RE: Audi A3 and S3 saloons revealed

Ouch! But the S3 is quite a step up from you 1.6D...
Personally, I hate finance... For the last 15yrs always had my cars paid for outright after 18mths. Got the latest on finance, 300/mth after trade in and a lil extra cash from me but hate not owning the car so paid it off.
Mine was an Audi car, ex demo, with 36miles on the clock. 4 months old... Got 6k of list, only went for a test drive.
Might be a way to go...?
We get ours on an Audi scheme, so no point going elsewhere really. Our £190 a month is everything except insurance included.Personally, I hate finance... It's not horrendously ugly like the 1-Series?
People can call me 'weird' all they like, but I simply won't buy a car which I don't like the looks of, no matter how good it may be.
Well, if you find it horrendously ugly, then I'm sure there are plenty of cars which already top it in your view. Personally, I like the styling but I can see why some don't! People can call me 'weird' all they like, but I simply won't buy a car which I don't like the looks of, no matter how good it may be.

The voting is now routinely trolled for every car.
Damn; that's sad! What is the point? At least some of us just vote once and explain the reasoning in the discussion.Zod said:
That said, 12 pages on such a dull (albeit no doubt competent) car?
Maybe some feel strongly about the fact that it's so dull and is part of a general marketplace leading in that direction. va1o said:
A3 Saloon is quite a smart looking thing in person, saw it last week at Goodwood. Nicely proportioned with neat attention to detail. BMW will no doubt be bringing out a 2-Series 'Grand Coupe' to compete sometime next year...
The thing I find irritating is that in the future, M cars probably won't be available with the choice of a manual 'box to appease us enthusiasts, yet BMW can still justify more and more pointless body styles. - The 'Gran Turismo' cars are rubbish next to the saloons / estates and conventional logic would suggest that the 'Gran Coupé' body would only serve to rob sales from the saloon models.HighwayStar said:
I never understand all this BMW is out of the question if it's wet or worst snow... Europe generally has worse winter weather than the UK and they still buy BM's... They just slap winter tyres on and get on with it. My best bud has an E90 M3, not up off by the winter at all.
Strange as some of my BMW driving colleagues either never drive in to work in snow or can't get out their street. I've seen many a BMW slither up the hill near where I live in snow while I pass them comfortably in a fwd car.ch108 said:

Oh not this again! I have a FWD Citroen and a RWD BMW. On sports summer tyres, neither will make it up the hill (it's steep with sharp corners) after heavy snowfall. Granted, the Citroen performs slightly better, but that's probably due to the fact that it's drive wheels are shod with 205 section tyres compared with the BMW's 255 boots.
The reason most BMWs in the UK are seen flailing around in the winter is that they're on the wrong rubber - wide summer tyres - for the conditions. - Fit a set of winters and they manage fine up until the point that ground clearance (of any standard car) becomes an issue. Of course, the driver makes all the difference.
Actually, on a set of winters, BMWs are more fun in the snow than FWD cars IMO (especially in empty car parks etc. ) and in standing water mine is much more stable than the C4.

It's the standard moan about BMW's... Quattro isn't the be all and end all, and I have one.

Saloon same size as original b5 s4, so why havent they mounted the engine longitudinally and give it proper 4wd?
It's an A3, so based on the MQB (Golf) platform...which is also why the proportions are horrible next to the B5 and other older cars. I know the reasons for it, but it still seems ridiculous that cars are becoming ever more bloated when the roads we drive them on become more congested.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
