The vents shown on the press car are the Vector Vent Kit option, looks much more aggresive.

That is hideous
I was referring to the black egg timer shape trim in the front bumper. In the same way as entrepreneurial folk have been selling Lancia grilles to buyers of the "Chrysler" small car range, someone could run a similar line in importing and selling SSV front bumpers...
It's about time. My little brother has the R8 tourer in oz. when I was out there a couple of months ago I fell in love with Holden cars all over again and the station wagon/tourer/estate is a cracking car. The interior is getting better slowly and power to pound they outweigh most other estates out there.

£50k?
Really?
How can Chevrolet sell the Camaro SS with the same drivetrain on the same floorpan for only £35k?

This might have something to do with it.
In Aus it retails at the equivilent $75k, which is £51,639. Then it has to be put on a boat that doesn't go in the same direction as all the other boats, or 2, and then all the import duties have to be paid etc.
If the pound was as strong (or dollar as weak) as it was 3 years ago, we'd probably still be getting these at £30k, which would be nice.
I was in Australia for the last 2 year, and the way they throw money around is sickening. I was earning more than double I'd EVER earned at home, to work as a labourer in the construction industry. I actually got paid a very similar amount to those working in Bunnings (the aussie B&Q) - Which is why you will rarely see an Aussie labouring, or working as a farm hand, these are now backpacker jobs.
At the moment, it truly is the land of opportunity, city wages are double or triple that at in the UK, with living costs being probably 1 and a half times that of the UK). And if that isn't enough, many young aussies will go work on the mines, for multiple thousand dollars per week! I know a couple who outright purchased houses in their mid to late 20's! They really don't know how good they have it.
When it comes to the interior, if you're used to german, you *will* notice the difference. The VXR8 has a solid enough interior but the plastics are inferior, you'll find sharp edges from where stuff has been taken out of moulds, and much of it is asked nicely to stay in place rather than screwed or clipped into place. The flip side is it's very easy to get apart to hide bluetooth kits or ipod cables and the like.
Still; loved the car I had - utterly utterly bonkers, especially foot flat in second... For me, it reminded me a lot of my old TVR Chimera in spirit.
My annual miles went up quite a lot though, and it wasn't particularly suited to a commute sat in traffic, so...

at least in the new VF version they have ditched the naff handbrake lever in favour of a bit of electrickery. Things are looking up...
Um... you sound like you think those retarded electric handbrakes are a good idea? They're a prime example of how to make some more complicated and troublesome while not working as well, and then expecting people to believe you when you call it an improvement.

Do not care.
LS3 + Manual + Estate + RWD = from me.
Yep, I think this may be the successor to my E39 M5, with benefit of estate. Its the only V8 + Manual large saloon / estate you can buy these days, since all zee germans (& Jag) only offer fast big cars with 2 pedals!!! LS3 + Manual + Estate + RWD = from me.
If I can fit a tow bar to the back, even better, I can tow my track car to the track while practicing heel & towing with v8 soundtrack ;-)

Umm.. where shall I start:
1. They don't. You have to add on sales tax (which varies significantly from state to state, but is typically about 8% in most states, here in Texas it's 8.25%. So we're already say closer to 38K.
2. In the UK you have 20% VAT. So the 35K becomes 42K.
3. There are other hidden costs not included in the price that usually add another 3% or so. Making that 35K base price closer to 43K.
4. That re-badged Holden is being shipped all the way from Australia to UK. Australian port charges are some of the highest in the World. Probably adds another 1% or 2%. So we're getting closer to 43K.
5. The Holden is actually better made. The trim materials in the Chevrolet are cheaper and the Holden has a bigger and more expensive to build station wagon body, probably made in smaller numbers.
OK, so we're still a little off maybe. But it's not as dramatic as you'd think. Used cars here (in the USA) in many states are not that cheaper than in the UK (depending on what you buy).
Insurance is more affordable here, as is fuel (half the price)and repairs are generally much more expensive.
I'd much prefer the Holden than the Camaro if I was in the market for something like that. HSVs are awesome.

As for materials in the Camaro, the one i drove last year was as well equipped and material wise similar to my bosses Merc. Granted it probably wasn't put together as well but it certainly wasnt shabby.
I must say...it's a sad state of affairs when petrolheads are offered a red-blooded muscle car / estate with a manual 'box and a legendary engine yet choose to bh about dashboard plastics like a bunch of sissies. No wonder Brits are regarded as soft, limp wristed weaklings by Aussies!
