Average speed cameras on M25 - working or not?

This. You can do indicated 60 and be within the enforced limit. Otherwise why would you see half the traffic doing this? Obviously they don't get tickets or else they'd all be bannned.
Yes, because there are no un-insured, banned drivers driving on the road these days?! If they're daft enough to risk their licence, they're daft enough to drive whilst banned.Sorry, just watched Motorway Cops, think the adrenaline is going, so many bad people on the roads!!

Thinking about this some more. I would be suprised if the cameras work at night. The car headlights would be shining towards the cameras. So how would they read the numberplates? Or do they have other methods rather than visable light, such as infa red too?
Some of them face the front of the car and some of them face the back, so I suppose even in the dark they can nab you if you get it wrong enough.I just obey the limit and a lot of others do too, but I've noticed that in the eastbound direction, almost everyone speeds up after Clackets and goes through the last two cameras at whatever speed they want.
I daren't do that, I don't think there's anything worthwhile to be gained, it's not worth the risk.

The gantry ones are not turned on at the moment, fill yer boots.
Any idea when they will be activated and if they will only work when the variable limit facility is in use ?I've heard stories that the cameras only work when the average limit facility is active on other parts of the M25 ???
Not sure if this is true as I'm fairly convinced they "should" go off when anything goes through them at 90+ MPH ??

Having spent a lot of time on the M25, I believe this to be approximately correct.
this story came out a few month ago

which is why you will find plenty of people on here who's friends have had tickets from them, but no one seems to have had one personally
can't answer the OP question on if they are working now, that story was now 4-5 months ago

The OP is asking about the roadwork average speed cameras, not the variable limit ones though, they are between junctions 5,6, and possibly continue to 7 and 8 as well.can't answer the OP question on if they are working now, that story was now 4-5 months ago
