Very glad this exists; it means that in a year or so's time I should be able to pick up a V10 previous model for c.20k, add a new map, and I'll have a 700+bhp estate car. Yay!

That is definitely the car to fill the "practical" slot in my lottery win garage.

Daft question but why is this car single clutch and not double clutch? Is this the start of the end for the heavier boxes?

+another. Get the kids in, take family shopping, stick hound in the boot, go to the tip, drive across Europe, go like a nutter round the 'Ring. It does it all, it's a no brainier for the lottery win, and I can drive round all the other dealers then fine tuning the rest of my stable smile

Don't think a dual clutch would handle the torque.

It's not an R tronic single clutch automated manual, it's an 8 speed Tiptronic like in the Q7 & A8 plus numerous Jags, BMWs Mercedes-Benz etc...

Exactly. Which is 35kg lighter than the sportronic or whatever they call it box, which can handle the R8 plus torque no problem.

Looks great, but why cant they seem to make a car with decent steering? It seems like a very regular 'issue' on all modern Audi's. Cant they just sack the guy in-charge of steering? :P I mean, the VW group is pretty big...maybe they could ask someone for some help...

Ahh, now i've re read I see what you mean, big face palm by me.

Still think the C6 (i think? circa 2007) RS6 is the best looking of them all!
I think the C5 looks the best, the rounded arches are better than the boxy ones, in my opinion.

My list:
C5
C7
C6

I think the C6 is rather ugly, the saloon is marginally better than the avant, but it's still not exactly pretty. Don't get me wrong, the engine is bonkers (in a good way) and I love the idea of winding up some serious metal in a 'boring Audi estate', but the looks, not for me.

I'm sorry but this is all just standard RS Audi, extremely fast, a handsome brute no doubt but where is the finesse? They just never seem to move the game on. If it came to the market with some feel to the steering or maybe a drastic weight cut, at least below the competition then it would have achieved something. But it's just same old.

I dunno, seems like those who've actually driven it think it has moved on.
Best reserve judgement

It's just sooooooo heavy!!!! Downsizing the powerplant to meet emissions etc... does not mean a downsize in overall mass. Would love one tho' LOL
Its actually 150KG lighter than the old one i believe, so although its a heavy car per se, at least its heading in the right direction!

Cant wait to see what Mr Harry Metcalfe of EVO makes of it as he always championed these fast Audi RS6s ahead of the AMG equivalent.

However, I do wonder all this is going to end. Driving back down a wet and busy M3 last night I was in close company with a debadged C63 estate, all graphite grey and darkened windows. You could just see the frustration in the way the driver kept squirting the car into gaps that it was like a caged animal! Too much power and no space to let it loose! All these super powerful saloons and estates are just wasted in the UK im afraid.
