Why is this thread still open?

I don't see what purpose it is serving other than to massage someone's already massive ego whilst helping them advertise their business and slag off their competition/anyone who disagrees with them.

Very strange...

Because it is amusing. There are people who have been entertained by the comments on the thread, they've said so here. We've had no complaints about it and yes, Ling is an utterly shameless self publicist, but it has made a few people smile, including me.

I think it's ebbing away now. Most of what needs to be said has been said, but it has been enjoyable...

Ling is amusing, you just sound like a bitter nerd.
Pretty much
You two sound like shills.

Ling has history, and a nasty habit of eventually stting on every doorstep she visits. Maybe this time it'll be different....

You seem to have a personal issue with her. That's fine. E-mail her or something or move on.

No, no it isn't. PistonHeads is very often amusing. That's one of the reasons why so many people like it. There are plenty of examples of threads where the subject matter is running close to breaking the rules, but where a bit of moderator judgement means that most people continue to enjoy the content with no harm being done. This is one.

I'm not really sure what your issue with the thread is but could I suggest that if you really find it hard to stomach that you simply select another thread to read instead? There are many alternatives on a wide variety of subjects. That's the beauty of this site, something for everyone.

Laid my main beef with Ling earlier on in the thread. She replied (accusing a respected former member of PH and drivers' rights campaigner, now deceased, to be linked with Nazi symbolism - go figure).

I say "just slow down a bit" to them, or "relax, chill and drive a bit slower" and they go off it, losing all touch with reality.

Absolute nutters and extreme mentalists. SAFESPEED.

Don't go there.

Stuart, I'd be grateful if you could answer my question posted on the previous page. Just so I am clear with the posting rules.

Mods, I would genuinely be interested to know why this isn't thread isn't seen as advertising given some of the direct comments from Ling about her products, and in particular, them being cheaper in relation to competitors?

Is it safe to assume that

...a thread created by ali4390(2) in a few months thanking people for their support in a recent case involving ali4390(2).co.uk (never linking it in the thread but the website will be in the profile), insulting anyone who dares to have a different opinion and constantly reminding people that the site offers products cheaper than the competition.
would not be closed either?

100% agree. It's been amusing and have enjoyed reading it.

Probably coming to end now.

Never dealt with Ling myself but know a few that have and all are very happy with the service.

Brightened up a wet miserable Friday.

Do you find that those who bh and moan about naming and shaming, adverts etc not being allowed are the ones that bh and moan when some flexibility is shown?

Personally I'd like a bit more flex on the self promotion thing. Personally, I think that, if you're a contributor to the bargain sub £1000 car thread and you're selling such a car (personally, not as a trader) then why not allow people to pop it in?

But it honestly isn't.

Ling sounds like a woman with a lot of hate, it's not very interesting to read nor very well thought out.

In my opinion.

So, don't read it then.

Whether it's amusing or not is a matter of opinion and just because you don't like it doesn't mean those who do should be deprived of it.

That's the can of worms I was referring to. Some people find racist/sexist/homophobic jokes amusing. Some people laugh at torture. If amusement is going to be allowed as a defence for abusiveness and spamming is that where the line is drawn, or is anything that someone finds funny allowed?

Ah yes, excellent answer. You really must have excelled at school.

How can you cast judgement on something without reading it?

I'm not saying delete the topic, just ban the obvious troll. Lets be realistic Ling IS only here to tout her business and is hardly likely to "contribute" to anything else. I don't get the thread. But lets be honest, if it wasn't ling, they would have been banned a long time ago.

That doesn't really cut it though, does it? You are leaving PH wide open to accusations of double standards. As someone else has already said, would anyone other than Ling have got away with linking a drivers' rights group (that PH used to wholeheartedly support) to Nazism if they weren't 'quirky and amusing' in someone's opinion?

People are absolutely within there right to slag off things PH supports.

People are not allow to get personal though, which you're doing.
