The colour scheme reminds me of the 512 S Modulo show car from 1970. I quite like it. smile

Oh yes! You're right. It's unorthodox, but I don't dislike it either.

Howdy Pistonheaders. Another update, apologies if there's not much diversity in these recent posts. Weather has been a bit dodgy recently (golf ball sized hailstones two nights ago!) lots of thunderstorms (3,500 lightning strikes recorded in one hour!) and heavy fog and work is hectic too, but in the meantime I got to go out with the camera before work this last Saturday morning and there were a few things out.

An immaculate AE86 in it's natural element...

Drop dead gorgeous 550. How anyone can't think these aren't gorgeous is beyond me.

and finally I thought I'd give some love to the Mirth Mobile, my mate Keith's little Cooper S that when I'm not riding my bike acts as my lift out to take these photos. Keith's a cracking-good photographer and one of the most dedicated people I know. Here are his photos, check them out!

EDIT: Seriously, thanks Flickr for making something easy difficult. Apparently they've changed how we post the image links into forums now... Great! I will get on top of it and edit the post later. Sorry.

Yeah, haven't had time to fix the links yet. One of these days a social networking site will be happy with their website interface for more than 5 minutes!

Thanks! Seems that a lot of the SpecEd Subarus made it to HK shores. I have photos of a couple more that I need to upload and when I used to work out near the Subaru service centre I would see them regularly S202/203s. I reckon the bug-eye Scooby has ages very well and I don't care what the haters say, I think they always looked good.

The special edition Impreza's are rare in the UK although i am lucky enough to have experienced an S202 and R205; the R205 is the only one in the UK.

A smörgåsbord of supercars out this past Sunday, including some super rare ones like the one off 'Segg Hundra and one of the Zonda Cinques. Around 100+ cars met up for a drive out to the airport in a convoy and I was sat at the end of the run with my camera waiting to get some shots. Problem was that they all turned up together which made photos a but tricky.

One of the cars of the morning for me really. I guess I'm just not massively interested in all the new supercars, no matter how good they are it's the classic and quirky that really interest me.

z_WP_1507 by Rupert Procter, on Flickr

There are many, many more pics of the day which I will upload in the next post. In the meantime here are some photos from the previous week.

Mate's well used S1 Elise. Imported from the UK a few years ago.

Now, this is what I'm talking about. Just oozing cool, the stonking 190 Evo II recently imported from Japan and still rocking those plates. What else is there to say - epic!

Matte has become a bit old hat of late, but I think this looks different enough to be cool.

So, not a massive update but I'll put some others up soon.

Thanks! Yeah, too right the Evo has been a favourite of mine for as long as I can remember. That day we had a 500E and a 190 Cosworth out too (shame the Cosworth photos didn't come out.)

A few of these around now. HK hasn't traditionally had many hot Renaults with the exception of the Clio V6 which is pretty popular here.

Haha! Cheers, Amir! Glad you like them!

A good mate of mine recently picked up a '72 W130 280S in really tidy condition. It's an original HK car that was also featured in a HK movie a few years back. So on Monday we went for a waft around the New Territories out where I live and I just loved it. It's quiet, rides great, has room to swing a tiger and gets lots of positive reactions everywhere you go. I imagine HK was full of these back in the 60's and 70's but they're a rare sight these days. Anyway, hope you like the car as much as I do... Now, I'd love to upstage him with a coupe version wink

Whilst we're at it, a different kind of Merc altogether. Cool points to the 280S for me...

Hello Pistonheads. Not a huge update from me but thought I would share some pics of the little rollerskate I recently bought for beer money off a friend. Since the early 90's I've been mad-keen on quirky Japanese cars and for some reason always wanted to have a true Japanese Kei car, i.e. 660cc, turbo, AWD with matchbox dimensions, so when the opportunity recently arose to get one at a knockdown price I couldn't resist it. It's a '01 Suzuki Kei Works which was the 'sporty' version of the Kei. A friend that I always talked about getting a car with (the idea was an R32 GT-R...) and I are going to share the project and use it as our ticket into the Sunday car meets here as it's quirky and rare enough to qualify. One of the cool things is that it has the much used Suzuki K6A motor in it, which is the same as the Cappucino and the new entry level Caterham 7. Hopefully that car will be popular and more Euro companies will start supporting the K6A aftermarket mods scene.

It's got 115k km on the clock and is in generally very tidy condition with the interior looking pretty much new. Previous owner was apparently a bit of a boy racer and it's got a few mods including, HKS boost gauge and turbo timer, full Tanabe Sustec suspension and front and rear SuzukiSport srut-braces. The only real kicker is that it's an auto (aaaaargh) and it doesn't have the Recaro seat option that a number of the Kei Works did. So we are going to search the local breakers and see if we can't find us a manual box and some Recaro seats to drop in it.

Immediate plans are to fix the driver's side HID lamp that seems to have fallen apart a bit, find some panels that fill the tow-bar holes (although I think they actually add to the asymmetrical look) and sort the brake pads as they can get pretty spongy after some brisk downhill driving. The barry boy in me also says a nice whooshy/whistly dump valve is in order and probably an induction kit and a few simple engine mod bits n bobs like that. Maybe if I can find a period double-DIN stereo we can stick that in too. Friends are suggesting dropping it on some 14" TE37N's or Watanabes with thick rubber, but I kind of want to keep it looking standard as most Japanese stuff like this here gets modified, and as I get older I prefer things original. Anyway, it's not the R32 GT-R that we wanted (yet) but it still puts smiles on faces!
