So happy it exists, cannot WAIT to see one inthe flesh. And as I will never be able to afford a new one I don't much care in the subjective comparison discussion... I certainly don't see it directly up aainst a 911 however.
I just like the fact it treads it's own path in the face of the Germans...

One of the unfortunate downside to an aluminium construction, while weight to strength is better than steel, volume to strength is much worse hence the structure being massve. Look at the FFRR, all the pillars look like they came off the Forth bridge. Anyway, as everyone knows pretty arse= totally useless at practical things.
My girlfriend cant cook or clean.

I must admit that as lovely as it looks and as commended as jag should be for making it, it is just so expensive. Upwards of £60k puts it into more exotic territory but it's made by a mainstream manufacturer. Someone earlier said think of it as a cheaper Aston. no way. it's only a Jag.
If the interior is as well made as it looks, it could certainly run an Aston close, not to mention performance of the V6 will be similar to a V8 Vantage yet £20k less expensive I must admit that as lovely as it looks and as commended as jag should be for making it, it is just so expensive. Upwards of £60k puts it into more exotic territory but it's made by a mainstream manufacturer. Someone earlier said think of it as a cheaper Aston. no way. it's only a Jag.

this is quite nice,
an old E-type roadster is towards the top of my list of cars I need to have in my stable before I die, but the prices of those are going crazy.

But that is no bad thing. The main market for this will probably be North America in the first instance, shortly followed by the Middle East and Far East. Their eyes are already attuned to a slightly different design grammar than are Europeans, and I can see them being sold to people who aren't traditional Jaguar owners. Probably younger than the average accountant, and more likely to be in software engineering.

Not convinced that Red is 'its' colour. Rear looks pretty good. Side profile is a bit S2000 ish and the front looks like somewhat like a Nissan 370z with a hit of Maserati lobbed in for good measure.
Other than that, and this is not to criticise the available models, but I'd prefer a manual 6 speed box to be offered, especially in a supercharged V6.

I think it looks great and I like the idea of it. I think the V8 was pointless, keep that for the XK. But still, for me the problem is the price. They say it's competing with the 911... Well I'm not so sure as I think the Jag has the same problem the new 911 has. They both look very expensive next to the new Cayman and Boxster considering just how good they are.

An SL63 AMG weighs 1777Kg, 911 cabrio weighs 1600Kg and F Type V8 weighs 1665KG so not particularly light or heavy. I think people underestimate how large this car is, much closer to a SL than SLK. Not sure what the benefits of having a larger car are if it's heavier and less practical. And more expensive.

I suppose the problem is that mid-level sports cars like the Boxster have got so good that higher end sports cars (excluding super-expensive exotica) don't really serve a purpose any more. il sole said:

Although having said that I'd still love an Aston V8, but I'd have to seriously look at both before I chose between that and the Jag. Conveniently enough I was following a V8 Vantage cab when I went out for a drive (in the Jag) last night. It sounded nice enough for me to wind the windows down and switch the stereo off!
That's stereotyping.
