Lovely.

I'm not quite convinced its worth twice the price of a, errm, non-Black CLK63 of same vintage though.
It's a very different car to be fair . The interior , engine , gearbox , cooling system , extra oil coolers , suspension , diff , body and electronics ( safety systems , software etc ) are all different or heavily modified . On top of that the chassis is strengthened , supported and seam welded . the car is as different to the base model than a gt3rs is to its counterpart if not more so .
I'll be buried in mine , then burned Viking stylee !

This car and a W124 E500/500E would be perfect.

Still one of my favourite TopGear videos of all time, when Jeremy set off at early o'clock and drove out into Wales...

This was the only Top Gear vid I could find - not one in Wales but still shows the entertaining side of the car:

I do love these! Fantastic looking (and sounding) things! cloud9 One of my favorite cars. Maybe one day their depreciation curve and my level of expendable income will meet in the middle.

I hate the buckets, I think I would be far happier in a CLK 63 AMG (none black edition), unfortunatly hard to find any info or reviews of them as the Black overshadows it.

beautiful. Gonna be such a shame to lose this breed of AMG engine (huge and naturally aspirated) from Mercs of the future.

I still can't help but think the CLK DTM looks even better though, but then you're adding another £100k on so this one looks like even better value.

Or you could buy a non black edition one for £20K.

You'd really really have to want that rear splitter and 0.4 second quicker 0-60...

While i see where you are coming from, i dont want one of those so i wouldnt spend £20k on it. I do want a black, and would spend £50k on one.

There's a BIT more to it than you might realise - they remove the rear seats and a tonne of other stuff but the new diff/suspension and other bits regain all that weight and a bit more IIRC?

The CLK63 Black was so unique it even had it's own website wink

Clarkson drives his on his "Thriller" dvd, after lamenting how dull "supercars" like the AM DBS and the Alfa 8C were to drive, despite being exciting as objects to behold. I have to say, for all the hyperbole he spouts, this time I believe he was being genuinely honest. After owning a Ford GT and a Gallardo, to then say that a Mercedes CLK63 Black is the most exciting car he'd driven is high praise I think.

well theres the small matter of the bespoke interior , engine modifications , gearbox modifications , cooling system mods, extra oil coolers , bespoke fully adjustable suspension ,new diff with cooling , new body ( every panel except doors , bonnet and roof ) , widened track front and rear , uprated brake disks , uprated callipers and modified electronics ( safety systems , software etc ) strengthened , braced and seam welded chassis .
other than that its exactly like a clk 63 smile

Most reviews have stated the c63 bs is a far superior car on track/road,is this why the clk63 bs has taken a large hit on pricing since the launch of the c63 bs ?

Not seen the DVD, but JC stating that his many times 'one of the best cars on sale / best I've driven this year' - AM DBS, is "dull to drive", just JC all over!!!

You can't trust any opinion or take him seriously about any car. He has a tendancy to slate it or resurect it somewhere down the line. Real consistent, not! Not exactly a reliable or credible car journalist any more!

Oh! Love this car, still a bit pricey though.

Does that hopefully mean you will be sparing the CGT the fire? hehe Have always quite liked the look of the CLK Black although have heard a few mixed things about it but would far rather one of them go Viking style than a CGT!

I love v8 sounds , but not the fuel economy when is the point that a fast car is slower if it sets off and has to refuel more than a slower car which can keep going ?

seriously these merc amg,s are awsome would defo have one if i was in that price market.

As perverse as this sounds in many ways the black is as much fun as the cgt , more so at lower speeds .
its one of the most underrated cars ever . its such a big hearted honest machine , its just a joy to drive .
I passed on the c coupe black because it wasnt a patch on clk for sheer fun , also much less bespoke than the clk black .
people either get it or they dont .
