Just taken out a policy with them and have received the list of documents I need to send them - will have my work cut out for me just completing and returning those. Amongst the requirements is for me to scan each page of my V5 document! I am a bit wary of doing this because of the chance it could get copied? Am I worrying unnecessarily or do others agree this seems a bit much?

Was the quote competitive though?
(May sound sarcastic, but i am genuinely curious as to how they compare)

would never ever use them as they are part of the Adrian Flux group - they are biggest bunch of cowboys I ever came across.

Decided not to bother trying again with them after they refused to insure me on a 328i for 'lack of driving experience' despite having 2 years NCB on an identical 328i and a year in a 318ti with another insurer! OK so I only passed my test age 30 but you'd think they could come up with something better than that.

tried same thing with me when I bought my Chimaera - stated I had no experience with high power sports cars. Choked laugh and explained I also owned an Esprit Turbo, 911, W8 passat and had previously owned more powerful TVR's, along with numerous V6's etc. This was right before they stitched me up, wish I had just hung up the phone there and then

You do realise Adrian Flux isn't an insurance company.

Yes, was one of the cheaper quotes but with highest excess.

I got insured with them on my modified import MX5 via their website.

Put simply, you will be charged £50 everytime you want to change something, everytime they make a mistake, or everytime they decide they aren't happy with something.

Basically, they are cheap because they know that entices you in. Then, they start the additional 'charges and fees'

They wanted photos of everything on the car, including how and where it was parked, a picture of the mileage of the clocks, photos of every page of the V5. To top it off, they sent my page upon page of contract to sign, in the space of two weeks.

This year, I went with a well known company that have a similar name to the blue stuff above our heads. I rang up, got quoted, purchased, they sent the documents (5 pages in a neat booklet) over, signed and sent back. Done.

Plus, they were cheaper and don't charge a pathetic £50 'admin' fee everytime you want to change something. I have changed my car since then plus gone from a private plate to the original plate. Rather than be completely free, it would have no doubt cost me £100 pounds of admin fee if I stayed with your current insurers.

Flux Direct are actually HIC using the Flux name under license.

I was covered with them from January until last week on a VW Beetle I had. I sold it, then found out they wouldn't cover me on anything else (even a UK 1.6 mk1 MX-5), due to my age? I'm 24, 6 years driving experience and 4 years NCB! I ended up just getting an insult of a premium refund and won't be using them again, no matter how cheap the headline cost is!

I've had to take a day off work to fill in and complete all the documents/scans/proof etc that they require. God forbid I ever need to make a claim.

just dont try and cancel your policy early..... say after two weeks because the car wasnt even used.

I got hit with a 400 quid bill........... refused to pay it as had already paid two months up front - I was prepared to lose that as I was cancelling the policy! they intially wanted nearly 600 quid but to do me a favour dropped the amount......... I still refused on the grounds I had paid two months, made no claims, car had not even left the garage. Stated if they felt they were owed it they should persue legal avenues to reclaim it and I would defend my case so......they just took it from my account.

now legally trying to reclaim it.

(this was not Flux direct but the parent 'broker')

Sounds a familiar tale. Many years ago, I insured a car with a company who's name rhymes with 'sucks'. The first few weeks were constant letters demanding document after document. So many that I started to wonder if they might be creating a clone of me in a lab somewhere. I can't remember what lead up to this but I eventually received a letter stating that my insurance had been cancelled due to not receiving my dental records in time or something of that ilk. Never again! Though I must admit I do miss having a pen pal wink

I recently cancelled with them, the experience wasnt too bad, but when I took out my policy, I didnt realise that 3 parties would be involved. Alarm bells started ringing, all I had for days was just a policy number, who knows what would have happened if I had an accident? I have paid £80 to get out of it, but well worth the money spent as I now have peace of mind.

I've only spoken to them on the phone, that was enough for me to sense that something "wasn't right" and that they weren't trustworthy.

Seems my gut feeling was correct!

Looks like i'm against the grain of opinion...

Got a EP3 on a modified policy, all I had to do was fill out a form and mileage declaration and I was away (premium 50% lower than the next cheapest and includes DOC cover at 23 years old). I swapped the car last month and paid the extra, no more paperwork or mileage declaration to be completed, nothing! Did it there and then and drove home from BCA insured.

Although on an annualised basis their quote on the new car isn't the cheapest (20% more) for the ease of swapping it over and the DOC cover included it made sense....provided it stays reasonable I'll be sticking with them smile - although I haven't had to claim yet....
