Actually an easy one for me this, the 993 GT2, epitomises what all the anti 911 brigade whine about.... big engine with turbo lag with a zillion HP, sat out back, 2 wheel drive and by modern standards a primitive suspension. Porsche alas have never built a thing like it since IMHO even the GT3's have been tame in comparison
Just wondering where people's thoughts on the 959 fit into this? Ignoring values for the moment, even though the 993 GT3 isn't too far off these days, would anyone prefer one of the cars on the list to a 959, or is that the ultimate factory turbocharged "911"

Ultimate 911 turbo? Surely that would be........Edited by Leins on Thursday 2nd May 15:08
Back on earth....yeah, I would take a 959 over any of the list.

993 Turbo for me. Was the dream car for 15 year old me when it came out.
I had a recording of Tiff driving it on Top Gear and watched it loads of times.
Here it is, watch from 3 mins onward,

Although it's a bit minging now, I think I'd want it in the same maroon colour.

Having spent a lot of time behind the wheel of a 959 over the past few years I'd have one in a heartbeat.
Nice!!!!One of the mags compared the 959 to the 996 TT when that first came out IIRC (Car/EVO?), with a view to seeing if the 911 Turbo had finally caught up with the 959. I think they came to the conclusion that the 996 was slightly faster cross-country, but not as exciting. Be interested to know your take on it Mark, and how the 959 compares to a 993 GT2 if you've had the pleasure of one of those?

911I've driven 4 993 GT2s, two each RHD and LHD.
They are a different beast, feel more raw than the 959, a bit closer to the edge. Speed wise not a great deal in it I wouldn't imagine (I've never driven them back to back), in the dry. In sub optimal conditions the 959 will romp away, it feels so surefooted, even in really bad conditions.
For me as nice as the 993 GT2 is the 959 is just so much more of an all rounder. I joked with a colleague the other day that if I won Euromillions I'd have one as my daily smoker

Superb, thanks for reply! I think that Euromillions win would just mean all of the above being bought They are a different beast, feel more raw than the 959, a bit closer to the edge.
