Loved the video, perfect b/g to midweek pizza Not sure it's quite fair, as no mention of warranty implications: you'd expect Pork & R8 to perform similarly at 60k miles with mfct backup, not sure a 50% added power GTR would be quite so 'everyday'. This vid & recent EVO test may explain why the R8+ was 'sub optimal' at SMMT day Fronts wrecked=too much understeer (trail brake helped but not ideal everywhere on hill route!)...
Litchfield offer warranties on all work they carry out on the GTR, and for second hand cars offer aftermarket warranties also. What you may lose from Nissan, Litcfield can offer anyway. Just as a side note, the engine spec in their demo car is actually able to run upto 1000bhp if you go for the larger turbos :-D
Great video as always, love the noise of the R8 but it'd be the GTR for me, that has to be one of ultimate do anything performance cars.
Most outrageously, I'm guessing you could apply that packages to a pre-owned GT-R meaning you could achieve that level of all round performance for circa £55k. Nuts.

to all those questioning the reliability of the tuned GTR, did you even check what entailed tuning the engine to that stage? Not even revised internal components.... if the tuner warrants the remaps and their work, no problem! There's little more than a couple new turbos and a remap for a stage "5" as they call it...
The Stage 5 Power upgrade includes:
Forge front mounted intercooler with hard piping kit
Litchfield Turbo intake pipes
Litchfield 1,100cc Bosch Injectors
Twin fuel pumps
Litchfield Large Bore performance intake kit with larger MAF housing
90mm Milltek full exhaust system with 321 Stainless Steel Down Pipes
Improved boost control with custom Ecutek code
Revised ignition control, Variable Valve timing and Fuel maps
Reduced fuel consumption (especially on partial throttle conditions)
Increase in both power and torque across the whole rev range
Litchfield RACEROM Switchable maps for enhanced Economy mode and full Race mode
Litchfield Custom Launch Control settings when used with Gearbox Software upgrade
I've seen comments to the extent of the GT being uninvolving.... were we watching the same video? The journalist was stting bricks... yeah the car was really uninvolving
I think the point being made is not that the GT-R is uninvolving but rather to be involving you have to drive it hard, like Chris was doing, and on the public road that is rarely possibly unless you drive irresponsibly. The Stage 5 Power upgrade includes:

I was just out for a short drive in my 355 (public holiday here in Switzerland). At the speeds I felt comfortable driving at here, it was enjoyable and I could bury the throttle for reasonable periods of time. In the GT-R it would have felt dull because I would have been using so little of the available performance.

Yet another fantastic video. I don't understand why we're getting this level of production value for free, but I sure am happy about it!
I've not seen Harris look this wide-eyed since he was in the car with Francois Delecour!
Think the 037 drive in this video may beat that for wide-eyed amazement (my favourite Monkey Vid)I've not seen Harris look this wide-eyed since he was in the car with Francois Delecour!

Your at brunters with 3 cars and vboxes and you don't run 0-300kph (186mph) - really, what a waste. 0-100 does not show which car is the fastest. Notice how whilst the GTR is quick off the line, at the cone (no mention of how far?) the Porsche and the Audi are very close.
If you're going to do a drag race, at least do it properly.

Great vid, as already stated, 5.7 my my miss molly.
I wonder what the test price was of the R8, cant help feeling id go for the basic of basics Lambo 550-2 if the 130k climbed up with all the extras added together to around the 140-50 mark.
Which looking at the config on audis site wont be that hard once youve got the leather you want and what have you.
Still hell of a car for 127 basic though.
Great vid

Or 60-130 mph. Lower CdA should favour the 911 at higher speeds but we all know that.
60-130 is a good measure for sure although that can be affected by the drivers knowledge (or lack of) in how to get a good time for that. Like I said, just a shame they stuck at 100mph when you are at a proving ground with zero excuses.
That GTR is very quick to 100mph.
Excellent vid! Always enjoy these..
Was impressed that the Audi and the Porsche were only 1 sec off the GTR which had 200hp more than them!
Also enjoyed watching the slow-mo shots, and how terrified Chris looked as he wrestled with all that power in the GTR! Respect to him for that.
I agree with the consensus, I'd go with the R8 V10, the noise is fantastic.

Aside from the stats whereby the Germans are demolished in embarrassing ways - I think Chris's silence after the GTR laps speaks volumes.
That said, none of those appeal to me - the 911 is dull, the R8 is a fat TT and the GTR is just fat.
Lovely video tho - the R8 does sound nice.
The GT-R in this vid is a monster but I do wonder what all that power does to the maintenance and general running costs in the long run, the standard GT-R's running costs as a track pony were already pretty fat. That said, none of those appeal to me - the 911 is dull, the R8 is a fat TT and the GTR is just fat.

A used '09 911 Turbo PDK with a 100 cell cat zaust, air filter and remap does 0-100 in around 6.1 secs so, not far behind the GT-R and would cost around £80k all in, shame one was not in the video to compare against.
