I am still bemused as to why he didn't include a remapped 335d on the test?
The torque would have ripped up all the tarmac on the drag strip rolleyes

Loved the video, perfect b/g to midweek pizza smile Not sure it's quite fair, as no mention of warranty implications: you'd expect Pork & R8 to perform similarly at 60k miles with mfct backup, not sure a 50% added power GTR would be quite so 'everyday'. This vid & recent EVO test may explain why the R8+ was 'sub optimal' at SMMT day wink Fronts wrecked=too much understeer (trail brake helped but not ideal everywhere on hill route!)...
Litchfield offer warranties on all work they carry out on the GTR, and for second hand cars offer aftermarket warranties also. What you may lose from Nissan, Litcfield can offer anyway.

Just as a side note, the engine spec in their demo car is actually able to run upto 1000bhp if you go for the larger turbos :-D

Great video as always, love the noise of the R8 but it'd be the GTR for me, that has to be one of ultimate do anything performance cars.

I applaud these cars as examples of what can be done but in the real world they don't have much appeal to me. If I left all the electronic aids on I'd probably be spending most of the time driving well below the limits of the car, as they are all too capable to be exploited properly on the public road. If I turned the electronics off I would either drive around like a wuss or stuff them.

For me - an enthusiastic but very average driver - I think cars launched in the 90s prior to electronic aids make better road cars. I think that as they didn't have an electronic safety net the cars had to provide better feedback and be more adjustable to allow them to be driven by the average punter. Personally I would also rather wring the neck on something with 300 bhp than be constantly lifting off the throttle with 600 bhp.

Slowest car in best to drive shock!

He does say turbo s is porsche's fastest. I'd suggest he meant most accelerative, I'm sure a gt2rs would have the legs after launching.

5.7 0-100. Lordy.

Air brake.

What are the two vertical circular cut-outs on the GTR back seat? Cup holders for when you're pressing on?
Pretty sure they are part of the subwoofer...
That is correct - its the BOSE subwoofer. Surprised I'm not the only one who noticed the R8 centre console, the ADHD in me is screaming out.

I expect Litchfield Imports website will go into meltdown this morning

http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk

Audi R8: Fast and the best Lambo you can buy

Porsche 911 Turbo S: Faster but dull

Litchfield Gtr: Holy fk, Those times are just insane.

Price for this insanity is 15k

I would happily have any of those but if I had the choice it would be the R8 all day long.

I really want a GT-R.

But guys, please work on your camera work. The 'follow' shots on track were a vibrating mess. And you had over-exposure on almost all the Audi stuff. The footage of the cars when they're standing still is brilliant as always but it would be good if you could do a better job of the moving stuff.

Loved the video, though.

Of the three it's only the GTR that excites me, be interesting to know from CH how his 599 would have fared in comparison because that's where I'd hang my hat at this price level.

^^this^^

E36/46 M3, NSX, 996C2s, Imprexa etc - all narrow enough to fit on UK roads whilst having their necks wringed. Surely more fun to actually DRIVE in the real world, aside from the fun of the drama of a Gallardo etc.

I do beleive Mr Harris has said this before in a 911/GTR/R8 video.

Small mistake in the article: The older single clutch box is R-Tronic, the new double clutch is S-Tronic (article states reverse of this).

+1!! Stupidly quick. Nissan absolutely smashed it with the GTR, eats up cars on road.
+2.

Seeing times and watching a video is one thing, watching one pull off next to you at the lights when your in something pretty quick is even more impressive.

Insane numbers but they don't add up to fun - GTR not particularly involving to drive once you get used to the performance (and you always do). R8 for me also.

That was the stage 5,

Stage 6 will produce 750 - 1000bhp >>>>> 0-100 mph in sub 5 seconds possibly??

What amazes me is that Nissan have a 3.8lt engine producing over 200bhp/lt in this thing, yet my only experience of Nissan main dealers has been their inability to fix the simple 2.5lt diesel engine in my wifes pathfinder.

Would I trust Nissan dealer with trying to fix one of these...would I bo!!ox.

PS Nice Vid Chris!!!

Can't imagine what a 750hp GTR would be like, you must get out feeling like you've just wrestled a bear. I'd take the GTR just on its mentalness, sounds like they've made some great tweaks on that one.

One of the most gripping vids you've ever done Chris, well done. And I'm sure the pulse rate of every viewer quickened for the duration of the GTR piece, and unfortunately for Stuttgart, slowed down a bit during the 911 laps (especially with one in that army truck green).

The only thing we need next is a production GTR v R8 V10 v latest 991 Turbo S video to get an up to date idea of where things stand.

Yet another fantastic video. I don't understand why we're getting this level of production value for free, but I sure am happy about it!

I've not seen Harris look this wide-eyed since he was in the car with Francois Delecour!

A 'numb' Porsche Turbo S. Have they lost the plot?

Come the euro-numbers cometh the R8...

Great video, I particularly liked the Audi's centre console lid acting as a g-meter on the track!
+1 7:12 is a fine example of dual function trim!
