The Litchfield GT-R is most impressive, and I'd give my right arm to own one.. but I think if I had to choose, I would rather own the Audi or the Porsche.. they'd just feel a bit more special, even if they were left behind in the GT-R's dust. And, being all boring and stuff, I would be concerned about long term reliability of the the GT-R in that state of tune.
I understand your concern but GTRs are just bulletproof. There's loads running around at 700bhp + and just nothing is breaking. A real testament to the fundamental strength of the engineering.
And the Litchfield mods in total including brakes and suspension is adding less than £30k to a £75k car if you buy new. Such ridiculous VFM

I was at Bruntingthorpe on a drivers dream days thingy a couple of years ago, and a standard GTR they had there at the time was noticeably quicker than the rest of the Ferrari, Gallardo, Aston Martin field.

Brutal, just brutal.

The standard GTR is slower than the Turbo S acording to R&T.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jOQFMlpdVI

The SS 0-100 time of under 5secs is of particular note as is 12secs to 160mph.

And I continue to regret not buying a GT-R when they came out in 07'. They were actually reasonable relatively speaking $75k or so.

After a 100 the 2006 997 Turbo was quicker in a straight line, I think GTR was quicker on the n-ring.

Having watched this great video again, I feel compelled to post about that GT-R (again).

That is an awesome thing, far too fast for me but watching and listening to it gives me goose pimples.

I would like to see a 911Vikings 1000bhp 996 go up against it in a drag race, just for laughs.

The r8 is more fun that's why ,going very fast does not necessarily equate to having fun.having owned 2 of those cars and driven the 3rd extensively he is spot on IMO.
[/quote]

If you want fun that is not very fast and rear wheel drive, you buy a Caterham. For the same money as the R8 you could have a GT-R and a Caterham.
Then you have the best of the three and fun but not very fast.

I doubt many owners of any of these cars don't have others as well.

Litchfield really know what they are doing with Nissan GT-Rs ... absolutely awesome! And so tempting with them only being 25mins from me.

There was a Nissan GT-R on the Castle-Combe Trackday last week and even in standard 500+bhp trim it was devastatingly quick.

I would have expected to be quicker on the track, but looking at Monkeys face, it was a bit of a handful hehe

Good video - looking forward nineexcellence modified 911 v GTR modified video .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSLJDLwo0M4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJdSVrzTOdQ

In this company, the GTR for me every time. Imagine the Audi or Porsche driver out and about with a friend thinking they've got a nice car, and then seeing the GTR come up behind them to line them up at the lights.

That sinking feeling is just about to get a whole lot bigger, and I bet most guys would just bug out knowing their pride and joy was about to get rodgered senseless.

Poor diddums.

And they get to be smashed in the wallet as well, paying far over the odds to be in the slow lane. Step aside fellas, GTR coming through.

I can't imagine that a significant number of people who can afford to spend this kind money on a car are going to be immature enough to race other cars from traffic lights. hehe

Yep I can really imagine the TurboS and R8 V10+ drivers feeling miserable about life, when they realise just how st their cars are. rolleyes

BTW your primary school playground has called, as they want their mentality back, you forgot to hand it in when you left.

By the very same logic, poor diddums GTR driver is going to be upset by any number of tuned up bangers that cost a pittance.
Stupid argument.

Not sure a tuned GTR would see which way this went!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h31A4vuhtRI

0-62 - 2.6s
0-100 - 3.9s
0-125 - 5.1s
0-155 - 7.3s

It's about time that Nissan changed the suspension like Litchfield have so that the "Comfort" setting means comfortable, not slightly less jarring.

What car are you thinking of exactly?
A 2008 GTR would cost you £30k (Holding their money like nothing else at the moment, would have cost only £53k new with all the toys included) and Litchfield will give you all the engine mods for about £6000.
And 630 hp for about £2000.

They are monsters and monstrously good value for money.

I'm not saying they aren't but the argument that it costs less than some faster cars is just daft. There are many classic cars that cost a lot more than £30k but are slow as fk. Like I said there are a lot of much cheaper cars that can be spanked for a lot of power. The Japanese seemed quite prodigious at this in the 90s, and you have all manner of RX7s, Supras and Skylines which can be had cheaply and tuned cheaply. It's not just the Japanese though, I've seen mega power Cossies, BMWs, everything. Then there are motorbikes...

Yawn, not this again. In case you missed it, he was on a track. I have no doubt the GTR is awe-inspiring in such a setting (not as fun or involving as an Ariel Atom or Radical, etc. but no doubt a level above the other two). Get it on the road however and unless you drive like an idiot, it's dull. I owned one for 5 months. I now have a Tuscan S - yes it's flaky and about half as fast cross country - it's also about 10 times more fun. The R8 is more fun also - Chris even agrees with me. It's not about numbers folks - it has to be about fun or what else is there?
