Honda NSX is over 20 years old and looks more modern than that, TBH.
+1 - NSX looks terrific, especially now. There was a lovely one at Brands Hatch at the BTCC opener this year, forgot how small they were (Mk2 MR2 size!), and incredibly low and lithe. Only 3 on the PH Classifieds at time of writing... sad!

To use it would be madness. There are loads of used examples for that purpose. Buy it, store it, watch it double in price.
This - if you have any hopes of retaining some of that £50k it needs wrapping in cotton wool.
If I were a millionaire I'd add it to my garage and I'd actually use it as it's designers and engineers intended (but keep it immaculate). - It's a massive shame when cars such as this become "garage queens" that are never driven.

I remember a PHer who went from an Evo to a standard R34 was very disappointed with the Nissan, said it didn't feel quick, nor did it seem to handle that well, and ended up in another Evo.

From what I've read, the reality never lived up to the hype with these things, unless you tuned the hell out of it, which of course, most people who get them do.

I'll take the proper GT-R, I agree with the others, the R34 hasn't aged well.
This is where a lot of people don't realise that Nissan released these with the intention of people to do some bolt-on's after purchase, they were the same as the MKIV Supra in the fact that they were supposed to have some basic bolt'ons(for £500-£1k) that completely transform the car and boost the power significantly, it was all to do with Nissan and Toyota essentially having to de-tune the cars to get around regulations for a new car.

In regard to handling, Nissan actually worked with one of the tuners(Cusco or Tein I believe) before the car was released, so people could bolt coilovers on straight away, which again, significantly improved the cars.

This is why the tuners will always love the japanese Godzilla's(Skylines, Supra's, RX7s, etc) because they are always designed with the intention of aftermarket tuning.

See, I really dont think the R34 has aged particularly well, especially when compared to the sharp looks of the 35.
I have to disagree with this, IMO the R34 is the best looking out of all the Skylines.

If we're talking which GTR was the best looking, I've long thought the R32 was the most well-proportioned and subtle looking, if you can find one unmolested (or de-molest one, if you're brave...)
Any excuse to post a picture. biggrin

Completely standard bar the wheels (I'm looking for some decent originals) and exhaust. Taken yesterday evening:

Indeed.

These cars were designed to be tuned. IIRC the Supra engine could take 600 bhp on standard internals.

It was to get around the 'gentlemans agreement' that the Japanese car industy had to limit power to about 276 bhp.

It is a great simple design. I love the clean line along the edge which runs completely straight from the headlight cluster to the rear spoiler.

To be honest I love r32/33/34.

Not a huge fan of the r35s looks.

However chavvy I love the r34 in fast n furious stickers, however bayside blue still beats it.

Weighs a ton! I would have guessed 1300/1400kg!

Absolutely rapid for the unimpressive (on paper) ptw ratio!

Hasn't aged well?? There aren't many 14 year old designs that look as fresh as the R34 IMO.

Beautiful, I love it! Hopefully one day eh.

Weight is usually quoted at around 1550kg and they make somewhere over 300 bhp as standard.

The entire point of a Skyline is to go fast.

As the new one goes much faster then how is the older slower one worth anything like the same amount ?

In 100 years I'll agree that a 100yr R35 might be worth the same as a 105yr R34 but right now realistically it's worth (ie what you could get at auction) less than £20k

Enlighten me.

And then provide examples where used previous generation models have sold for the same amount as new current models.

And remember we aren't talking about limited number Italian exotica here.

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
If I had a lot of money I would buy one.
Not that one, but, I would buy one.
I used to own an R33 GTR LM and loved it to bits. One of only 98 ever made. So.d it to a bloke from Cornwall.
I wonder if he still has it?????

Point of a Skyline is to be a large-ish family car in Japan. GT-R's "fastest car OMG LOL" stuff seems to come largely from people who only know of it via Gran Turismo. Desirability and relatively low numbers made mean good BNR34s are still in demand. Not so surprising to see a price like that for a delivery-mileage one given its rarity.

Yep, it would be more accurate to say the point of the Skyline GTR is to go fast. As above, the Skyline in isolation is just a large saloon car.

Edit: Despite knowing this, the word "Skyline" IS evocative for me, it perks my automotive sensors just as much as hearing the words "Ferrari" or "Cosworth" does.

You don't think this will sell for 50k? If it sells for 50 its worth 50
