Splendid video. Every now and again Chris reminds me a little of Keith Floyd eg when he says "more a celebration of..." with a swish of the hand gesture. They are both so very engaging. You cannot fake genuine passion.

Funny you should say that. I was pushing thoughts of Freddy Mercury away all through the video wink

Ace video Mr Harris. Truly great.

This is by a long way the best video review you've ever done Chris.

my own fire-breathing, tweaked and lovely Aero 8.
details please

I was sat at lights in Wandsworth next to a guy in a Morgan 3 wheeler (BRG with bullet holes, so much nicer than that Gulf colours one), gave him a smile and thumbs up but felt like getting out and giving him a round of applause

makes you proud to be British

Just a heigh indication can be misleading for "will I fit in a Caterham questions", due to realtive length of leg and back differences and sometimes weight/wdith/brawn etc. At your height you could well be OK in a standard S3 (series 3) Seven with a lowered floor option (can be retrofitted). The other option is an SV, which you will probably have to pull the seat forward in and has a bigger pedal box etc.
Cheers for the info. I do have rather long legs and size 12 feet so it sounds like the SV would be the one for me.

Absolutely!

This is mine. Was Morgan's demonstrator and is running considerably more than advertised BHP on the rolling road - I suspect some factory fettling; most likely an Alpina lump as the outputs are very similar to that of Alpina's version of that engine. One photo shows it sitting next to my Defender. Hope that's suitably flag-waving for you!

Wish I had the Caterham in shot too, in the spirit of this thread.

Really enjoyed the video and while I loved the Morgan, watching that just makes me want an Caterham even more now - something I didn't think possible!

Harry, brilliant write up on your thoughts re the Morgan & Caterham, I remember contributing to your thread last year when you were thinking about a 355/360. Superb photo above too, shows the almost comical juxtaposition between the Landy and the Moggy!

The 7 is the essence of four wheeled motoring, but one must plan ones drive carefully, please can sat-nav makers have a 'maximize B roads' option. Get your old paper maps out and see the super 7 (pardon) style roads that go from A to B.
I loved driving one in the early seventies.Remember when you could tuck in under the trailer of an artic. lorry before they put the side bars on. I was once nearly set on fire when overtaking and a car driver dumped his cigarette in my lap, he probably hadn't even seen me.
I've never driven a Porsche 550 (who has?) but it must be related to the 7 in its feeling of being alive,.
Perhaps now is the time to get a new 7?

I'm 6'2" and I can only just about depress the clutch all the way with the seat fully back in my SV chassied car. Usually have the seat one notch forward on the road and two forward on the track. I also have lowered floors and there is plenty of space between the top of my helmet and the rollbar. Plenty of space in the pedal box too, I tend to wear either Sparco race boots or Puma Roma trainers but have driven it safely with normal shoes on.

I had a Morgan +4 in the early 60s. Occasionally I & my lady would throw our 2 Great Danes in the luggage area that they had behind the seat in those days, for a 55 mile run to the beach. At speed the Danes would crouch down & rest their heads on our shoulders to get out of the wind a bit.

Every now & then they would take an interest in a car we were passing, & "WOOF" at it as we did.

Unlike you getting a cigarette from a driver who did not see you, we would give a very deep "WOOF" to the driver who had not seen us.

In those days before air conditioning, all drivers windows were open in summer, can you imagine the effect on some driver, of having a one hundred miles per hour Great Dane "WOOF" in their window?

Awesome video...

One of my bucket list items is to build my own bike engined Caterham/Westfield/similar...

Just to satisfy my OCD, love the magic dis/reappearing hat, the missing rear view mirror, and what happened when the rear tyre of the Morgan hit the catseye? biggrin

The three wheeler Morgan looks absolutely nuts, never appealed before, but now I'm seriously intrigued as to how it handles, personally.....
