If you dont abuse it, you should get thousands of miles out of it. Even when they start slipping under boost, just be gentle. Bit of mechanical sympathy goes a long way!

1st post! Currently driving desperately sad Citroen Grand Picasso having ditched company F10 520d with change of job. Want/need this Sbarge as distraction before suicide kicks in.

It's floaty, it's French and it has an auto 'box... could there be a more relaxing tip car?

Annoys me, "lady owner" so what? its got parking dinks and and kid slime on the rear seats? Its just as easy to make assumptions either way, better to just show the car...
Still looks like a steal at this price, the short and pricy tax (well vs the price of the car) is probably the cause.

Saab 9-5s.

I know own about the sump sludging up. Is this a petrol only malady or does it affect diesels too?

Currently shopping for an auto diesel estate and 9-5s are on my shortlist.

This is my shed of the week:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-B...vip=true&am...

£750 later...

Full service history to 2013. No rust in the usual W124 places. It has a fresh set of Michelin tyres to boot.

Is he not saying he's just bought it?

That's how I read it. Link doesn't work so I guessed it had been removed.

It hasn't been removed, its the link that's dodgy. If he has the ebay number for the item you can just make a link like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/*************

Yes the link's broken, but the fact he said '£750 later' implies he's bought it.

Lovely. I drove CDG's w124 estate and it made me appreciate the feeling that an open back w124 has over the 4 door - range rover-esque and a very pleasant place to be.

I don't believe the "no rust" though!

Doesn't look quite so glamourous in Brum!

But I think poster has purchased, but does sound very good for the money, with tax, mot and sensible miles

1.9's are fiat engines not without issues

2.2 is an old Vauxhall dog

3.0 is an Isuzu engine that likes to implode

I'd stick with the tried and tested 2.3t or look for a Volvo D5

Its not perfect but the only real rust I have found is on the bonnet where a few stone chips have corroded and a tiny spot next to one rear window. There are plenty of minor dents, scrapes, a few poor touch ups and some small areas of laquer peel however.

I have had the car up on a ramp to investigate this morning. The rear axle mounts, sills, floors, inner wings, front wings and other usual 124 trouble spots are all rot free (for now...).

I didn't realise you had purchased it - that's a brilliant buy if there is no rust!

Awesome buy if it's rust free as you say. Well, awesome buy anyway.
Get cracking with the Dynax to make sure it stays that way. Enjoy.
