Very tempted by that, need a shed for house renovation duties, have been looking at 4x4s but that is an awful lot of car for the money. scdan4 said:
Out of interest, how thirsty are these with an auto? That's a lot of car for the money. The Spruce goose said:
sorry mate get a life i don't need to justify anything to you, it is now sold, so find something else to be anal about.
Touched a nerve have I. I do apologise pettle.Fair enough on the amount spent but as a supposed car enthusiast you could at least get the simple details of the amount of MOT and VED left correct. I'm sure we've all been annoyed by incorrect or mis-stated adverts!

Not really i just found for a 500 quid car your statement was inconsequential on how much i said i spent on here or ebay. as well as the minor details you 'picked' up on, it just felt so pernickety.Fair enough on the amount spent but as a supposed car enthusiast you could at least get the simple details of the amount of MOT and VED left correct. Vol 2 already!
Perhaps due to the over abundance of grey motors parked up in the road outside today, I'm finding myself drawn to this Primera GT:
Frequently overlooked but a decent chassis with a nice pointy front end; cavernous boot, really quite impressive fuel economy for a 1990s 150bhp engine and solid reliability.
Advertised at £750 ono for an unmodified example that appears to have been well maintained by someone of progressing years - could be a very nice buy, with the added bonus of being surrounded by Cornish back roads for that all important post purchase familiarisation hoon.
I second this. I have a red saloon, cost 450 pounds, body work has a little rust, 1 previous very elderly owner.Perhaps due to the over abundance of grey motors parked up in the road outside today, I'm finding myself drawn to this Primera GT:

Needs tLC but with tax and long MOT at half the budget, This would easily scare any car bar non for under 1000 pounds in the corners, especially with a wheel and tyre upgrade, (remaining budget).
Although the engine is econimical and revvy, it will not win you many drag races, due to being an almost 1400 kg car, But it is fun and suits the car perfectly for what you expect from a car of this money.

A V6 Omega falls into your budget and will do 25mpg. Comfy barge, easy to fix, parts are plentiful. Now i am looking for a car maybe 500 - 700 something fastish and above 25 mpg any suggestions.

How about a nice auto 2.0 Audi 80... £895 might not sound cheap but it has FSH and looks immaculate, would be a cracking motorway mile muncher for someone on a budget.
Or there's this for just under a grand - a nice comfy big old Volvo.
A year's ticket, 2.9l engine, Luxury Edition spec.

Anyone got thoughts on in-budget Honda CRVs? Bombproof or moneypit?
Dad's got a mk1. He loves it, faultlessly reliable, does everything that's asked of it. He gets a shade over 30mpg up and down the hills of devon where it rarely sees a motorway of has a constant cruise. He does drive slow though!
I think i'm going to get shot of my shed c5.
Plus points are its has years mot/6 months tax, stops and starts and the engines nice and quiet despite having done 200k.
Minus points are the clutch judders when you pull away, has no service history so needs a cam belt, needs 2 new tyres now and the other 2 aren't too much better, wiper wash isn't pumping water, oil temp gauge doesn't work, there's a crack in the window and there's no radio.
My head says getting the above sorted isn't worth it bearing in mind i only paid £500 for the car so would get half back if it scrapped it plus i don't need it as i have a works van, my jeep and our camper.
Any thoughts from impartial parties?
