I'd be willing to bet that thing is a dog.

My general rule is: If a dealer is punting a c£1k car = rough as a badgers arse.

I've yet to be proved wrong.
I would bet the same but due to the hammerite on the wheels. Call it gut instinct but I think anyone who would do that do an S70 is likely to be an idiot and bodger.
Blimey. Tough crowd tonight.

There wont be many 100k ish miles S70s about (if genuine). Its worth a look for that reason alone.
It has a knob end numberplate and a stupid chrome GB badge on the back too if I'm being really picky biggrin

I suspect that was a really nice car owned by some old giffer, but the previous owner before it was put up for sale was a moron and hammerited the wheels and added on the tat. I'd want a really good look to make sure he hadn't bodged or skimped on anything important but it could be a good smoker for the money if returned to full pensioner spec.

ETA - it also has those absurd wind deflector things over the windows!!

To be clear, I'm not basing my comments on the car itself, rather I'm saying that as a rule, anything sub £2k from a dealer is going to be rough and hence I wouldn't waste my time going to view it.

For the record none of dme's gripes would put me off, quite the opposite actually. Wind deflectors, for example, are a reasonably nerdy addition to a car, and wouldn't automatically make me assume that car hasn't been cared for.

If it's going to fly through the next MOT, why not put it through one and increase the value of the car?

Number plate comes back as an SE model, not a Quattro as it is badged up as? Looks like it has had a new interior at some point (cream door cards) and the exhaust doesn't fit properly. Parts bin special perhaps?

I would steer clear of that one personally, unless it was a lot cheaper.

I reckon that would probably be ok as I was not depending on it .

The points BorkFactor mentions, the location shown in the pics, and the dodgy looking bloke in the background would all put me off....whether cheap or not!

Agreed. There are different standards of cheap cars.

The 2.4 NA engine is bombproof, looks to be in nice condition overall, low mileage too smile

Eh... no!

V70's are infinitely more desirable, more so in decent spec. The 2.4 is crap... it has potential electric issues galore and sod all power - better off with a low blow 2.5T as it least it won't be challenged by head winds. Plus this thing looks a right dog. Is the sellers fat missus bound and gagged in the boot or is it just lowered at the back, innit. Put this way, I just bought a W plate 2.4 V70 for £200 with 6 months test... with issues. So I scrapped it. If he gets a grand for that, I'll need resuscitated.
