Are these quite quick? I remember being a passenger in one while at 6th Form. It was my mates pride and joy untill it got written off by his sisters fella when they where at Uni.

doubt it, but are desirable and rare in unmolested condition, it'd sell pretty easy I'd imagine

budget barge with a difference, 3.5 v6 and leather a bit of rust but for 655 quids is pretty good value.

I don't know why but I can't look at the Honda without thinking it needs a diplomatic flag on each front wing.

Could be quite a nice barge for sub 1k
This followed me through Trentham on Thursday.

Witnessing the owners driving skills I'd give this one a miss.

Back in their day they were pretty nippy. Mainly as they weigh nowt. One of these was Shed of the Week a few weeks back. Find that thread and there is loads of info. I had a Renault 11 with the same engine, and it was quicker that an XR3 of the same vintage in a straight line!

Agreed; I worked at a Renault dealership in '88 so drove lots of 5s, 9s and 11s. The 1.7s were indeed 'pretty nippy' - and more relaxing to drive than the 1.4turbos.

Type of ebay advert I avoid like the plague, due to the awful spelling and grammar. Might be a bargain, but much more likely to be a waste of time and money sadly.

I noticed that too the other day. Aren't they a bit juicy given the limited performance on offer though?

I currently drive a knackered e36 323i so I'm used to that...

Looks a very nice place to rack up some miles though, and im sure with the 6 speed and cruise it wont be too shabby on the motorway.

I had one (Lexus) for a while. It's a nice comfortable car but the 2L is a little underpowered IMHO.

Also, look about for a juddering clutch and notchy gear change. It'll probably be in need of a new 'box and clutch.
