You can weigh that in for at least £100 if needs be.

Just spotted this E320.

Such a shame about the rust issues with these old Mercs, though they'd probably be worth more if they didn't fall to pieces.
That one looks lovely, then you look at the offside rear arch and it hits home.
Still a useful car if you just wanted to treat it as a van or skip - like I did with an E34 Touring last time I did up a house - this time I can't justify having a car sat around just for that so I bought an old Kia Sorento off a mate for £2k, though that plan may have changed as my wife wants to use it for Child ferrying duties!

The search is back on for an bargain estate I can use as a daily driver.

Yep, even if you get the rust sorted it will come back. Chap round the corner from me bought a very clean same era CLK last year. It now has tiny bits of rust popping up all over the place.

This looks pretty spiffy for not much over thread budget:

We were discussing the perfect car for a long journey, 4 up with luggage, up the M6 to Scotland, then driving on bumpy single track roads across the isles of Jura & Islay.
(Whilst on a fly fishing trip there last week!)

This could be it.

The wonky 'Outback' lettering on the front makes my teeth itch though, has someone added that?!

Weird. I've been looking for a car for exactly the same trip! I might not need to be 4 up, but will probably have a dog in tow. I was going to go for a V12 Jag XJ40. biggrin

Looks nice. However, Wanli tyres, even on a £1000 car, raises some concerns re budget maintenance.

On a car like that for wafting about it wouldn't bother me.

Certainly appears to be. No glovebox would be a pain though!

£395. Reckon it looks great still. Could probably break it for more than that.

90BHP, 180k miles, French.

No thanks. For 400 quid you could have this Puma:

a jolly nice bottle of wine, and some self respect. wink

Look at the rust though, the sill is probably only holding together until the next pothole

It's pretty bad. But it's still better than a Peugeot.

Id recommend trying a 306 before you start bashing them, bar a few odd engineering decisions they are decent cars.

306 HDIs are starting to become abit borky now, I think id rather have a dturbo (engine will probably outlive human existence)

I'd have given them credit if they'd at least attempted to cover up the tin worm with a dollop of hammerite

Been there, done that with both a Pug and it's co-spawn, a Citroen ZX. I would rather ride a Puch Maxi for the rest of my days than own another one of those hateful things.

I have one of these in the ugly estate version.its very reliable but utterly joyless.bought in November 2013 and has always started first turn of the key.
Had a broken spring, exhaust and tyres.I do 40 miles a day.totally anonymous and boring.90bhp is OK ,it is not slow and can keep up with and overtake safely.
I am boring myself talking about it...
