At least they're honest. Shirley has higher scrap value?
How on earth did that pass an MOT less than 12 months ago! Tempting to see just how far it would go smile

1997 BMW 523i for £599

10 months of MOT left (no advisories) and a private plate valued at £650 thrown in. If you can get shot of the private plate at that valuation, you've got yourself a pretty good little free car there. Well, a car you've effectively been paid £51 to drive.

Has a few dings and rust spots and the driver's seat is in awful nick but the ad's well written and the seller seems a bright and honest chap.

I've not seen a Cav on the road anywhere in about a year.

i has a 2 litre cav, with chopped springs and powerflow valve, I loved it was right hoot and they drive well.

A bit tatty, but this must be some of the most horses you can get for your Bargain Basement money. Sounds like it has been looked after mechanically, too.

Its the quattro, so I imagine huge bills if the 4x4 goes wrong. VW engines are pretty good, and I imagine easy to replace when they die.

If it was November rather than September I'd be making you a proper offer and coming to get it myself - I don't need a car right now but I will in a couple months. Someone is going to get a good little deal here!

Where'd you get the plate valued?

Every single one of those calls makes me want to die a little inside, guranteed to get them on BMW's, AUDI's and Hondas in my experiance

If I were you I'd take out this statement:

To summarise, this is a cheap, comfortable, reliable family car / cruising barge with plenty of life left in it. I am 100% confident that it will get you wherever you need to go with minimal fuss or worry.

Agree'd, you're not just tempting fate, you're poking it in the eyes with a really pointy stick.

Haldex Quattro early gen so should be pretty simple.

But the 1.8t engine is good if looked after. My mums Audi b5 a4 1.8t at 170k and sounds and pulls well.

It still has a standalone ECU which is £400 to repair or £1000 to replace if it goes wrong. Ask me how I know.

TTs are ace, but a cheap one will have:
- dead/dying dash pod
- soft-close windows that don't soft-close
- clonking suspension
- climate control with a mind of its own

etc etc. I'd rather have a nice one.
