My fault. I cut & pasted a website for the OBD fault code and it was very badly written.

I do like the comment 2 posts below the one where the guy says he's in Harlow asking where he is.

Most of it is full of Astras and Mondeos with little, or no MOT, but with 'only a £30 fix required' jobs.

I browse every now and then. Although it doesn't seem worthwhile. Guy puts car up for £200, is offered £50.
I joined one of those fb groups (Bristol-based) when I was selling my gf's car. Jesus Christ. Most of the ads were along the lines of "drives great, no MOT, swops? [sic]". Every car a complete nail, and every ad answered with someone trying to swap their complete dog of a sub-shed for some other worthless heap of rust.

Total waste of time.

But good for swapping turds for other turds when you can't afford better. Or running a small budget.

Perhaps, but there are other venues where people tend to put a least a *tiny* bit more effort into describing their cars. The ease of posting to a fb group seems to attract the lowest common denominator.

However this one might be of interest to someone on here who knows a thing, or two about Alfas.

Most people with even a rudimentary grasp of the English language would understand the FB exchanges, certainly the one's posted above.

So either you really ARE that thick, or you're just attempting to tell us that you exist and communicate within higher social spheres.

Either way...

I'm flattered by the thought that I might inhabit a higher social sphere (whatever that is), and delighted that you understood the idiot-exchange. Well done.

Thanks, but really, no need to congratulate me on understanding stuff that anyone with a vague grasp of English could.

I suspect the Alfa fault-code is a classic case of the fault having little or nothing to do with the code - that code would take a while to appear so wouldn't explain instant cutting-out (indeed, cars with electrical issues causing engines to stop tend not to have reliable electrical systems to report said faults ;0 )

I paid 390 quid for a pug 307 1.6 se a few months back. It had a few marks on it but was in generally good condition, had a new cam belt fitted 18 months ago, and had 4 new tyres on it, together with a full service history.

It sailed through its mot yesterday with no advisories. Not bad for an old jalopy with 99k on her.

I'm very firmly a convert t to bangernomics now.

Wow - I'm a member of a few of those groups and they're all full of "private sellers" punting nails to idiots but that one is particularly terrible

Really? I think it is pretty fair, he even says "spares or repairs", not being sold as running.

I'm after a sub £600 car for a family member. Small and easy to drive, cheap to Insure, reliable enough for the money and hopefully some decent tyres and brakes. Too much to ask you might think..... But apparently not, there seems to be plenty out there, it's just working out what to take the chance on.

I'll keep watching this thread incase anything suitable comes up!

I'd have that Audi all day, but the Alfa? No way!

Having previously owned a 2.0 JTS - well that's the least desirable engine for a start, and at that mileage you can be sure it needs a cambelt / variator etc.

I bet it needs suspension work too.
