Should be getting my MX5 back fairly soon, at last.

On a totally unrelated note, if I happened to know someone selling an 02 plate A3 1.8T Sport in silver, 125k, MOT until February, with leather, at roughly thread money, would there be any interest?

Purely hypothetical obviously, but if such a mythical beast existed, it'd probably be just north of Reading.

Love those - are there many left? I know the Almera GTI is getting a bit thin on the ground

Do they rot?

Its a 2.0TS, which is a great engine.

Variator/cambelt cant comment on, but thats called due diligence and a negotiating tool wink

The suspension, show me a 10+yr old £950 car that doesnt need suspension work.

I think thats a very decent looking, low mileage 'alternative' choice, that should drive well, look smart and put a smile on your face.

Too bad there are too many sheeple around frown
I'm far from a sheeple as I currently have a 190k mile E39 which has consumed vast amounts of money in the past 8 months..

Oddly enough, I was just relating what people told me when I bought my Alfa, and although I enjoyed the way it drove, and the driving position etc. I had a few issues with it.

That Primera is lovely, I'd have that if I was looking for another car, but I already have four....

Primera GT wins extra points for being honed at the 'ring by a touring car legend. Get it bought!

This would be a good snotter for someone.

Skoda Octavia estate TDI, full service history and recent belt change. Plenty of life left, reckon 600 cash might buy it.

Bodywork is awful but that would only make it easier to leave outside tesco!

There was a nice Almera GTi in the classifieds on here recently, might still be around.

Here's my contribution to the thread: Don't know if it will stay anywhere near the £500 starting bid currently on there, but a Nissan Silvia Turbo under 'people also viewed' for that Primera GT on the previous page. smile

Acres of rear leg room in those. Had two '96's at one point. Great cars, if somewhat dull to drive.

Brilliant catch gag.

I was indeed a bit economical with the truth. Of course there is a slight drawback with any cheap BMW.

There was a second part of the package

Slung the new engine in today after giving it a full service/general clean up and should have it running this week.
The BMW is alive and owes me £520.

Some friends of mine ran one to about 150k on the road, then continued to use it off-road on their farm in the Peak District, taking food out the sheep, and often rescuing a sheep from snow-covered hillsides! Never let them down. Still in use today.

Nice chunk of comfy car for the money. No idea what they are like in terms of scary bills but I would think nothing too horrible on that.

Don't they use the Ford Duratec V6? Good engine that.

Assuming all is well the only thing that would worry me is the automatic gearbox stting itself.
