I think the clue is in the description.

My father-in-law bought a X-plate BMW 320Ci auto a couple of months back from my BIL's friend for £850.

It is amazing how well it drives - I've had a few goes in it and it really is great - OK the engine is the smallest capacity 6 that BMW did which means you get not much go for about the same mpg as a 328 will do, but for this money it's not worth being fussy.

They are definitely worth being on this thread's radar.

I really prefer driving it compared to my few month old Passat Alltrack with a DSG box.

I miss running bargain cars, though my wife has a £2000 Kia Sorento that she loves and I love not worrying about being abused on the school runs. smile

I bought this for £466 in August

I was after a car with a towbar that I could get hold of within a day or two. Saw this on ebay, it was local, P/X to clear from a citroen dealer. When I spotted it, it was on £465 so I just stuck a bid on for £466 and forgot about it. Later that day my phone made that familiar ebay sound and I had won it.

It's a 53 plate Seat Toledo 1.9TDi. 159,000 miles (doesnt bother me in the slightest) It's got pretty much everything you could want fitted, Cruise control, Climate control (ice cold), Traction control, Electric windows all round, Electric mirrors, rear sun blind, 6CD changer and CD player, 6 speaker stereo, Full OBC, front fog lights etc. It's also got FSH and was serviced 2,000 miles before I got it, recent cambelt as well.

I have to say it's brilliant. It only had 2 months MOT remaining when I got it, but I chucked it in for one last week and it flew straight through. The only money I have spent on it is £50 for the MOT and diesel money. It's comfy, returns 60mpg on cruise control on the way to work, practical, decent stereo, what more can you want from a cheap hack? It also manages to pull my boat OK, although I will be selling it on in the spring to get a 4x4 for those duties.
Sweet! thumbup

Exactly.
- New brakes
- new headlight and number plate bulbs.
- new MacPherson strut.
- new numberplate.
- new tyres (part worn)
- new wheel.
- seatbelt restitching
- new suspension mountings.
- new wipers
- new anti roll bars

And most of that isn't even needed for a pass, doing that will get you a no advisory car.

Sounds like a right heap at the moment though.

It's scrap, who in their right mind is going to spend the time and money to get that through a MoT? Find one that's got test on it and hope it lasts you a year. They're not especially rare and cost buttons to buy, just no sense in chucking money at that.

Oh, think I mistook it for the ST200.
Apologies

Needs a new seatbelt - which means messing with pre-tensioners. You could DIY it, but I'd not be confident. You can't 'restitch' a frayed belt!

New suspension strut - this could be a pig of a job, needing a compressor. Not something many home mechanics have, or should be playing with!

The 'suspension mountings' are corrosion of the mounting points. If you can weld at home and have the time to dismantle the suspension to weld it up, then yes, you could do it on the cheap.

Anti-roll bar rubbers will be cheap, though.

Essentially, it's £199 because it's scrap. The welding to suspension mount points alone kills it.

Looks good and the quality of the written advert in terms of grammar as well as the details of the car give a lot of good, warm feeling.

What do you expect for £199 rolleyes
Does need quite a bit of work, but it's probably worth spending on if the paint's good.

£300 is very optimistic unless doing a cheap DIY job with your own welding. Top mount replacement (plus the other parts that turn to dust on removal, e.g. track rods) will be £150 on its own.

Saw that and thought it looked good. Surprised there's no bids as 2.3s seem to make good money even in rough condition these days. Is a 2.0t really that much of a downgrade?

It's not a turbo, it's just the 2.0.

I had one for 4 months, glacial.

Mycarcheck states 148bhp - it must be a turbo surely? Also has 2.0t on boot lid.

That Primera looks to be a nice car at that money.

Good spot, I was just going by the text in the advert.

And a very boring 4 months.
