None yet. Just drove it 110 miles home, engine and gearbox are superb. Couple of things not working but all simple fixes. Drives well!

Edit - have an awful petrol station shot

Has anyone posted this 328i E46 touring yet? It was in the barge thread but is <£1000 and seems like a lot of car for the money.

That looks to be a bargain, lovely colour combo too.
I've just contacted the seller about that. Had to email as I'm at work though.

Looks good, although a few more pics of the external parts of the vehicle would be good.

Would be great for me as I'm after a sub £1k car and I could do with an estate.

Do the gearboxes in that model require a service?

Can't believe you'd drive over 5 miles to pick up a shed!

Why? Seriously limiting your choice if you'll only buy stuff within 5 miles!

I get that. Fine for your £100k supercar (or even £15k dream car). Not gonna put the effort in for a sub-£1k banger! (I admit I once drove 8 miles as it was an interesting £700 car.)

Great deal.

They are pretty decent cars, the 1.4 has adequate performance, and I remember it being remarkably fuel efficient for the size car.

Depends what you want from a banger I suppose - if you're just looking for seats and a steering wheel you'll find something easy enough

Yeah, also depends how urgently you need something. When I found the Golf Cabriolet, I wasn't desperate to buy but for £700 I couldn't resist as it was different to the usual rusty Civics and knackered BMWs. What did you get in the end, though?

Guys, anything interesting around at the moment? I'm without my car for a couple of weeks and thinking of a shed to tide me over

Whereabouts in the country are you?

Not much in the interesting stakes but it's got a long MOT on it and should have reasonable oomph:

I'm going to call this seller at the weekend if I can get someone to cover me at work.

With these cars the main problems I know of are rusted arches, which he mentions and the rear sub frame? Which I hope is easy to see if it's cracked. Does anyone on here have any more advice as the car does sound true and honest. Is it worth treating those arches? Or does it become too expensive?

Thanks.

I've had a chat with the seller. He will email you pics of the arches if you ask. They look rusty and it has put me off the car. However, I'm no bodyshop expert, so something that looks bad to me may be ok to someone in the know.

The MOT history shows that is has an oil leak, a cut tyre (which has been changed, apparently) and play in one of the suspension ball joints.

A few of the pics below:

Entirely typical for the age, and a shame as it would cost a lot to repair to a good standard.

Thanks chaps. Really appreciated.

That's bubbling from underneath it seems. I did wonder why it was still for sale, for someone with the tools/skills, or access to mates rates that car would be ideal.

I expect it's sooner, rather than later it will fail an MOT for rust.

I traveled from Somerset to Carlisle a few years ago to pick up a 1 grand grand cherokee , in hindsight that was a bit over the top.

Trawling Scumtree for a winter shed and spotted this, albeit it's sadly at the wrong end of the country for me; manual(!) E36 328i on 116k, which looks relatively unmolested, and allegedly only one owner. Got to be a unicorn if it's true! thumbup

If that's as rust free and genuine as it looks, that's a bargain for someone. The MOT history doesn't hint at anything bad either... just an advisory this year for a rear tyre, and nothing at all for the previous couple of years.
