What a crap advert, but it could be a pretty good car:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112229613746?_trksid=p20...

How much is a belts, water pump and tensioner change on one of these?

Can you report it? Surely it's fraud or something?
After five years I doubt anyone would care. The car is probably not far off the crusher.

If someone did enquire the previous owner would probably make some excuse about a new engine or instrument cluster or something and there is no way to prove that either way.
Oh. Well, I suppose at least nowadays with the internet checking we can do, if someone tries that today, they'd be in trouble?

Barge or bargain?
Only a 2 litre, manual not auto, cloth not leather, drops it onto the top end of this thread rather than the bottom of barges smile

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

That looks rather lovely, though I'd be nervous about less than 2 months MOT left, even though it passed with no advisories last time and it's only done 1,000 miles since ...
Plus you have to factor in a replacement leather interior!
Because changing the interior on a £1000 car is the first thing on everyone's mind isn't it!
Yes this is pistonheads
I've swapped out a few interiors for leather on sub £2k cars. I remember getting a complete Jaguar quilted leather interior for £100. Too good not to put in my own as the breakers sold them for about £500 at the time.

I've been hankering for another shed for some time and after a late night browse of eBay earlier in the week I'm picking this up later today.

I've always quite liked the MK3 Mondeo, amazing how little money they go for these days. Hopefully it goes ok!

I think this thread would improve if someone was to link to the cheapest E39 currently available on PH whistle
...and then you can all tell me why it's not selling!

Might it be this one?
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

Generally looks OK.

However: make more of the positives of the car; remove that guff about the ICE; remove the stickers; get better pics - the one of a gaping radio hole is an off-putter.

I think the bad points might be over-stated, and if there's no shimmy then say so (most of us have no idea what that is, but BMWs 'are renowned for it.' Apparently).

Does that help?

Apart from that, looks decent and sensibly-priced. Keep the faith, but ack that Dec can be a tricky time to sell a 3.0 petrol.

Yep, might be that one wink

Better to put in a photo with the stereo, to show what that looks like, even though it's not in there any more?

Can't take the dragon off the back.... it's hiding guarding a nasty hole in the bumper wink

Bit of re-writing to do I guess.

I know the run-up to Christmas isn't great, but it's been up for a couple of weeks now and I've had just one come to look and only 2 or 3 dodgy scam enquiries even! I'd have thought with a long MOT and decent tyres it would have generated a bit more interest frown Maybe I'll lop a couple of hundred off it after Christmas...

Remove all the neg remarks and list of things you've fixed
As above, plus:
  • Remove the smillies from the ad
  • Bullet-point the good bits at the top
  • Put a cheap stereo in it (if it works it's a something that you don't need to fix)
  • Remove the phone holder on the dash
  • Fewer dent-based pictures, just give them an over-all picture... You might get a time-waster, but you'll put off less folk than having close-ups of every mark.
