£371

Mot'd until Nov

Same family had it for the last 5 years

Bugger all service history so I'll do oil oil filter air filter and plugs.

Seems to go fine, not as fast or comfy as the aero but for what I paid can't complain.

Only fault is a shakira cd jammed in the player.

Good buy but I'd imagine that CD will be an MOT failure so you'll need to get that fixed.

Picked up this stter earlier - 280k miles, MOT Aug. Drives well but has multiple water ingress issues

Extremely inexpensive so it'll do as a tip run slag for a bit

Because it'll drive the MOT tester crazy?

Being used to "water ingress issues" I don't see this as an issue. biggrin

280k miles, though!

I think you'll struggle to find a VW of that era without some kind of water ingress issue!

Oh. It's a Renault Primera.

Good luck. On evidence of the example owned by a friend from new, you're going to need it!

I had one of these a few years ago.my water ingress problem was traced back to the heater matrix.I bypassed it and drove for 18 months without a heater

That platform (also A6 and Superb?) often has the 'blocked drains' problem - nowhere for rainwater to go so it creeps into the bulkhead bungs. Strip everything out and clean it all - reseal all the bulkhead grommets and that usually solves it?

Windscreen and rear window seals look dodgy and I think the pollen filter housing also leaks.

It's st like this I hate the most about VAG stuff - trivial crap that makes a car extremely undesirable and unpleasant to use despite being in fine fettle mechanically.

I have a focus estate i'm getting rid of scratchchin
Can you give me some details (within posting rules, of course)?

I must scare people or something. I've rung about two and been told straight away they are sold. Ive also emailed about a few as it's late and I can't ring people at 11pm. All ive had back is 'now sold'.

I'm not just after a Focus. Anything estate wise under £1k will do.
Sorry for not getting back sooner, but while i was at work posting last night the wife was selling the car to a family member for peanuts.

Sorry.
No worries.

I've clocked a 2003 Leon 1.6 with a year's MOT at a dealer about 30 miles from me. Hoping that I can see it tomorrow. Went over today (as I was near the village) but the place was locked up and the car was nowhere in site. Typical rolleyes

Its up for £795 which is steep for what it is. Will see if he is interested in doing a deal though. Probably won't be. hehe

What went wrong with his ?

This is the 1800 petrol so a pretty simple engine .

I've done 50 miles today around b roads mainly with a few a road blasts and it all seems fine, brakes and gears all seem fine , it's not overheating .

My day insurance runs out tomorrow afternoon so it'll be parked up the farm until april when i'll get shot of the saab and the primera will become daily driver.

Corroded brake pipes anything to worry about?

170k miles, but looks ok. Guess the 12 month MOT appears on sale of the car?

Called the dealer about the Leon. He didn't know what I was ringing him for. It seems the car sold weeks ago and he can't understand why it's for sale on Gumtree.

Just looking for something cheap to chuck on the drive and use at weekends. Been looking for stuff local to me and it is literally all st.

I may increase my budget to get something better. It looks like I will have to travel anyway to source anything half decent.
