Just picked up this 318i SE for £650, the only problem being the drivers window does not work but I am getting it fixed free of charge as he genuinely forgot to do it. It is only the regulator that needs replacing, other than that everything works lovely! It is on 130,000 and has MOT until next March. In its MOT history it has only ever had one advisory for a broken rear light!

Only complaint is the lack of cup holders in the front hehe Still a nice change from driving a transit around everywhere..
Looks nice. You can buy a conversion online which replaces the money tray in the centre console and changes into 2 cup holders. I just did it for my E46.

Where did you find that? Ebay? Autotrader etc.?

That would be perfect for my needs at the moment. I'd like to know your sources. smile

Just find one being broken for parts, slips straight in as a replacement I believe

Generally, not even that. There's a plastic lump on the wire that is supposed to grip the wire and make everything move, eventually it gets brittle and snaps at the retaining point. Get it all lined up and wait ten minutes for the Araldite to set and you're good to go again. Worth doing both sides while you're there.... (or while he's there!)

He took it all apart in front of me as he thought it was a simple fix like that but it is the regulator that needs replacing unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion though! Even if he never replies again, they are only £20 off of the bay of E and I have someone that could fit it.

I'm afraid not frown My centre console is black so if you have one laying around I'll happily pay for it and postage smile

Anyone have experience of the 2.5 petrol Mondeo like the one below? Are they ok?

I think they are chain driven too?

It looks ok, but I'm not 100% convinced on that mileage though.

It's accurate according to the MOT history (although that could mean nothing) however it's had 4 springs in it's time?

I'm currently tooling about in a 1.4 2004 Citroen xsara.

Mine for 300 quid and 85k on the clock.

Problems thus far:

The central looking is dodgy and sometimes one of th back doors doesn't unlock. It was ok for the mot and let's hope it works for the next one

There is a metallic clanging sound from the underneath at times, it's a tiny bit of metal, a heat shield I think, which keeps bending inwards and clattering against the gear linkage, not a major problem and my mechanic will bend it back for nowt every now and again.

The back axel was a bit ropey and had to be padded out with spacers on one side to ensure it didn't foul the bodywork. All is fine here atm.

I didn't get a locking wheel nut with the car and naturally it needed new front boots for the mot. The nuts were bksed and had to be welded off. That cost a bit.

When my mechanic was sorting the clattering on his ramp the handbrake, which was in a state of disrepair, snapped. Had to get both cables fixed.

And today I got my new ELO CD in the post (on the third day - what an album). Fed it into the single shot CD player, and nothing happened. Fed another cd in it and it started playing the second cd. It has therefore swallowed my brand new album. fking brilliant.

So all in all, the car cost 300 quid, it's very cheap to run,m cost me just under 300 quid for a new handbrake, new front tyres and the cost of getting the locking wheel nuts off . I,k pretty pleased with it all in tbh and as long as no electrical disasters happen, can see it lasting another year or two.

Why did you stick a second CD in when you knew there was already one in there?

Reckon that's real walnut in the Mondeo Ghia rofl

Decent engine and fairly bulletproof if well cared for.

I thought I'd done something similar the other day but turned out I'd taken the first CD out and put it back in storage. Can't see how it could have swallowed 2 CDs and play one.

My gaffer @ work has a Range Rover and put a CD into the player and nothing happened, he then put another one in and it played the 2nd one, even though it was a single CD player.

Turned out he'd put the first one in at the wrong angle, thus missing the CD transportation mechanism and the disc had slotted into the roof of the appliance.
