"Poor acceleration over 150mph" rofl

I've never found it a problem.

I've got a really bad Alpina itch. One day!

I've been in this exact one before, owned by one of the chaps on another fortum I frequent. Only (RHD) B12 in Estoril blue iirc.

Not too shabby. cool
Can't imagine there are many E38s in Estoril knocking about, never seen one before
You can understand why too. It's not really doing it any favours in that colour frown

This will embarrass anything on the motorway.

We had a CL65 in the showroom when I worked at MB Leeds in 2004.
£157K!!!! We sold it for 7k OVER list price. Now they're £20k.....
The problem with that is that the rear of any LWB car should be a very special place to be. That looks like a boggo e-class, and the aftermarket DVD screens do it no favours.

The Alpina one looks superb if not a little pricey. Very good cars the E38 and I am speaking from experience smile

I also think they have a very retro cool about them now.

Those rear screens aren't aftermarket...

Why would "they" have used a 735 with 750 running gear in the transporter, is that not just a 750 with a 735 badge on it?

Yes. They used 735is with 750i badges

Bond used 740iLs instead of 750iLs for cost reasons.

It's my lad's 7th birthday this month. I've got him a piece of signed memorabilia from each Bond actor, and the Brosnan one is the Corgi 750 model.

Alpina prices are much stronger on the Continent than they are here. Euro's sometimes buy LHD drive cars in the UK (B8s in particular) then sell them for a tidy profit.

This one will probably appeal to a collector who won't really care what its merits are relative to a 735/750i.

It's badged a 750iL but they used rebadged 740iLs to save money, there was about £20,000 difference in price and the film used 15 cars or so, therefor it was worth the £300k overall saving

Oh, I know, I wasn't arguing.

Trust me, with a Bond fanatic for a son, the trivia I have been subjected to.....

The car park used in the Bond piece was filmed in Brent Cross at the bottom of the M1 and was filmed early one morning before the place opened.

Its a stunning car but the latest 330d Touring has similar torque (560 Nm), does ~50mpg and a shed less g/kg CO2 to minimise the VED. Beautiful in sound and body but on paper no competition in this era of £1.45 / litre fuel

And to think I used to have an RS4 and RS6...must be gettin' old.

The bond scene was awesome! At that age I used to stick it on the linn and nearly blow the windows out on the house!

Compared to the 928 we took it was poor when above 150mph, don't think the aero helps. This isn't something to be considered unless you live in Germany and need to travel everywhere at 2 miles a minute while finding a combined MPG of under 8 acceptable.

That D3 is a thing of beauty. I'd have that over the RS4 equivalent any day.
It's just a 3 series with a 123d engine. You'd seriously have that over an RS4?
