Wasn't there a blue one of these in Aberdeen? I think I read about it on here.

Price does not seem mad compared to the other LHD cars such as these:

Both more than 30k Euros and with much higher mileage.....

Real autobahn stormer. Always liked these. Looks much better in flesh than it does on the pictures.

But 30k? Nah. You can find them around 10-15k.
Great! Where?

This has just reminded me what an ridiculous amount of car for the money those e39 M5's and B10s are... If only I could afford to feed the thing I'd have one tomorrow.

Great car but about £20k too expensive.

It makes similar vintage 7 series look like mega value though. I'd save £25k+ and get a really nice 740i instead.

"They are rarer but are they better than M cars? no."

That'll always be a matter of debate.

I believe most all Alpina's are auto and you do not need to queue up at the 'M' parts counter!

I'd love to own one of these if I could afford it.

Those thinking it is overpriced have missed out that this is a Swiss car, or if they spotted it have absolutely no idea of just how expensive Switzerland is.

Here's another B12 6.0 for sale in Switzerland, similar mileage for £33,000:

If you want overpriced, here's an E34 B10 3.0 4x4 touring for the same price as the B12:

That D3 is a thing of beauty. I'd have that over the RS4 equivalent any day.
You would have a diesel 3 series over an RS4? Really?

Its a stunning car but the latest 330d Touring has similar torque (560 Nm), does ~50mpg and a shed less g/kg CO2 to minimise the VED. Beautiful in sound and body but on paper no competition in this era of £1.45 / litre fuel

And to think I used to have an RS4 and RS6...must be gettin' old.
I had a 750iL. Loved every drive.

If you think a 330d is even close to the driving experience you're way wide of the mark.

Along with the rest of the drive - The sound, immediacy and torque spread of the engine is stunning.

Most versatile jekyl & hyde car i've driven (thanks to switchable suspension, gearbox and stonking midrange)

VED is £225 (or whatever the generic one is now) for all the e38's - due to their age.

MPG is overrated unless you live on the motorways.

Petrol is £1.32/litre last time I filled up.

Also, any e38 750iL isn't going to fall in value now, a 330d will carry on falling.

Dammit, I can feel myself getting another e38 750 :/

Cool, taking an E38 round the 'ring! I imagine as you chuck it about at actually reveals a hidden talent belies it's size. I bought an E38 740i on a whim and it was truly a sublime car...just seeing these interior shots makes me ache for another one. Ridiculous bargain at 1600 quid for a 80k mint example. Of course, the fuel costs proved to be just too much but I did drive it to the south of france and back after our flights were cancelled. Never owned a car that covered those 5 hours stints with such ease..
This looks absolutely fantastic but one would have to be very wealthy and/or very committed to Alpina to part with that sort of cash.
E39 B10 with LPG (like the one EVO had and sold on ebay for 6k??)...that could tempt me...

Lovely post, this regrettably is exactly the same way my brain works when it comes to my old cars, I'm talking myself back into them.

This is still the best 7 series shape imo, and still looks better than a contemporary 5 out on the road. Even my wife asks me about these old 7 series now and again when we see them which just goes to show they are a pleasant and good looking car that stand out.

I used to really want one of these, and thought I'd seen one once (had the wheels/exhausts and badges, and the decals too), but when I checked the VRM later it was a 728i haha... doh!

A great Alpina from a great era of BMW models.

But £30,000? You could make a 750i a better overall package for a third of the cost I bet.
