No insurance to £200? Make it £1k, then watch the numbers fall
Anyway, yes 'tis about time but enforcing maybe hard.
what they dont state is that legislation is already in place for uninsured vehicles to be seized. I have personally seized over 400 vehicles for no insurance, the owners have to then get insurance, pay the charges (circa 300 quid IIRC) the fine, storage fee's within X amount of days. Failure to do so meant vehicle was crushed unless worth over 5k where it would be auctioned. Anyway, yes 'tis about time but enforcing maybe hard.
Most uninsured were because the drivers did not have licences etc which were also dealt with.
Not sure exactly how police will be dealing with this- numbers are being slashed and when I was there at highest ever number- we struggled to do anything other than a stern word, just didnt have the time to deal.

Without the Police numbers then it's more Government spin. I would be nice to see, after my M25 run on Sunday....seemed like a Mercedes Middle Lane at 65 mph convoy....
Ironic how when the BBC were reporting this story from the M5 tha amount of Middle and Outside Lane hoggers in the filming was shocking....Lane 1 was in the main..... EMPTY..
Off to Peterborough later up the A1M.... apart from wagons and Caravans(not exclusive these days) I will probably be the only driver in Lane one from Alconbury to the Parkway

Won't work. Police patrols are virtually non existant. Despite many regular motorway runs, I really can't remember the last time I saw a police patrol. That is, patrolling, not on their way to something else. In reality, it is impossible to sort out the middle lane hoggers, there are just to many of them. Middle lane hoggers could be easily detected with the spin off technology from speed camera speed detection equipment, and sent fines through the post. And it'll not miss anyone!

Will this affect me?
I drive in the middle lane constantly as it appears safer in my muddled head! I am constantly doing 70 and pull over(where clear) into the slow lane to let others pass and then pull back, is this ok? I am fully insured and taxed and mot'ed and have a full license?

Night have helped if I had opened the link first?
I'm lazy though
I never see any police out an about on main roads. My wife used to be a copper......and trust me I know first hand.
So....how on earth do they think they will man this? With coppers being told to leave left right and centre the numbers are small enough as they are. Not only this...I would rather they concentrated on something a tad more important.
