A elderly friend of my mother had 3 new fords last year alone. He only does about 5K a year,
He started with a new focus had that for about 4 months then decided that it was too big for him.
He then changed that for a new fiesta, the dealer did not have the model he wanted but he bought one anyway.
I think he had that for less than 3 months before he bought the model he wanted.
All bought for pretty much list but great deals because you get a set of mats.
He did mention that the salesman was really friendly and often rings him up if there are any deals going at the end of the month.
This is the same dealer who used to supply a new Ka to a neighbour of my mother.
One did 5k in the 3 years she was given a good deal on a new one -yeah i bet.
The next did under 2k in 3 years just before she died they tried to sell her another one despite the car not having been out of the garage for 5 months .

I have some customers who buy a brand new car from us every 9 - 12 months. Most have a PCP agreement and if they can put in no cash and keep the payments the same they'll change.
Actually, is that a bad deal?

I think I would be happy doing that, as long as it was something to my liking.

No, not if you're going to change it at the end anyway.

Had some people come in today and buy a new car, their current car is two years old with 9k on the clock, bought another one the same, just a different colour ! biggrin

For decades my aunt has bought a new Renault every three years (deviated once in the 90s with a Citroen AX). She's had a procession of Fives, Clios, Meganes, Clios.

The best one was around 2000 IIRC, trading in a 1.6 RT or RXE met red Megane with bugger all miles for a flat red 1.4 RN - same shape model. I kept my gob shut.

An elderly relative bought a new Yaris in 2007 (her first Toyota after years of Fords), and has covered just over 6k miles in the interim. She always brings it back to the supplying dealership for servicing every 18 months or so, or if there's an issue (it doesn't ever seem to go wrong save a dodgy battery - you can guess why!). The last time, she mentioned to them of her fear that it might be getting too old and would start failing MOTs or costing a lot to keep running. Their advice? "Worry about that if it happens, for the moment you would be mad to trade it in given the mileage you do and the condition of the car"

She almost feels guilty that she only gives them some servicing work every now and then, but actually started to fancy a new car now anyway. This will almost certainly be another Toyota from the same dealership, and she tells the world how well they treat her there.
