I also like the Diebels livery like this car>>

Beat me to it by 15 mins, I love this livery! I also quite like the Tic Tac one (I can't post pics, sorry) but that needs careful wheel selection.

What an awesome project! Good luck with the build Chris.

It's very refreshing to see something a bit different on the stages, this will certainly tick that box!

For the record I would recommend Mosley Motorsport, Mr Mosley eats/sleeps/breathes E30 M3's and he has an enviable collection of E30 M3 models in a glass case that you can look at after you've finished ogling the rest of the E30 p*rn in his workshop!
+1

He's a nice guy too and really helpful.
Is Nigel still about? Last time I saw him he was off to Spain I think. He did a great job of sorting my Cecotto after 5 years in storage.

He doesn't rebuild the S14 himself though, or didn't last time I spoke to him.

He did go off travelling around for a while, but has been back a for some time. As you say, I don't think he undertakes the engine builds himself, but he has many years worth of reliable & knowledgable contacts to rely upon. When you're spending big money on releasing decent power from an s14, you want to be sure they know what they're doing. I met someone last year, who after 2 months and over £20k, had a supposed Group A engine that only made 250 brake on a good day and was a long way short of the 300-330 he'd been promised. His 'expert' builder offered no explanation and stopped answering the phone. There's another name that pops up in this thread, who's reputation also precedes them. I guess we all just need to be careful not to get our fingers burnt nowadays.

I don't know if it's still the case but Lester used to build engines for Moseley's

I think the s54/3.2 works really well in the e30. It's a simple install and you could always slot the s14 back in further down the line if you wanted to?

Much as I like the s14, the extra grunt of the s54 would come in handy on the stages. (cue the ''it's not an M3 without the s14 etc) You can get an s54 for £1500 and you'll have over 300 reliable bhp. Getting an s14 to make numbers like that will cost a hell of a lot more.
Any E30 you say scratchchin

A LHD car is way easier to do.

My 320is has s50/3.0 & nigh on 300 brake.

Gratuitous shot of my M3.

If you have an E30 M3 , then keep the S14 engine.
If you want a V8 , straight 6 etc etc , just get a 316 and chuck a load of M3 panels at it and you'd have the same thing looks wise.
Have a look at the project cars section on s14.net
Start with this thread. http://www.s14.net/forums/showthread.php?52210-Bra...

Great project - Chris you should definitely buy an old Northern Irish reg plate to complete the look. All the original works prodrive cars had them to get around type approval regulations.

Chris,

I think the best guy out there to help you prepare your car is Hugues Delage, multiple French Rally winner with E30 M3's, he knows them inside out, great guy ... http://www.delagesport.com/index2.html OK it is in France, but that is only an excuse to drive on some great roads ...

That's about 3 miles from me, the temptation to take a look may almost be too much!
