Some resources for you...

www.s14.net

forum.s14power.com needs registration, but I can help with that.

I built my own 280hp s14. I'm sure we can come to some sort of arrangement. You can try before you buy if you like; Pistonheader builds engine for Pistonheader, has kind of a ring to it.

A word of warning, s14 engine parts are expensive, but if you are sensible 270hp can be done for a reasonable budget. I also have the aforementioned carbon fibre intake going spare if you need one.

Drop me an email if you need anything.

An E30 M3 road racer?
Great idea.

I wanted one myself and unfortunately narrowly missed this wonderful DTM replica car, sold by Oakfields a few months ago, asking £35K:

If I were having an S14 done, I'd ask Grant Motorsport. Their work here:

Regarding the motor... In Germany I would let those guys do the job: http://www.kolb-motorsport.de/ ; http://www.kolb-motorsport.de/M3.pdf . Don't know if that's an option for you. I think they are the most well known guys for prepping old BMW-engines in Germany.

Nice project by the way, and a good choice to go for the Bastos-livery! smile

A car like this could work well on tarmac events, unless you go for a lot of HD motorsport parts a tip would be dont try over driving the car, point and squirt, make the most of the straight line grunt,
a twin plate clutch would be a good investment, a dry sump system and beefed up engine mounts are also a wise move.

A reasonable amount. I had one which had a Split Second MAF unit on and modded inlet and that nade 255. Cams manifold and a good map will be needed on top so not 'that' cheap!!
When was that ewolg? I have a diamond black one that I have had for 8 yrs or so that had a splitsec system on it (now removed for carbon airbox, A_N etc). The system I think is unusual hence the Q.

cheers

PS: Chris, congrats on the purchase/find/project. Great to see another E30 with plans to be used rather than locked away. Good luck.

I remember a similar project that I was involved in helping with. Sytner Nottingham's E30 M3 BTCC Replica about 10 years ago. We never touched the engine but the lads may have played with it since?

Should be a good project Chris.
If the car you did was done in the mobil livery then it was sat in Sytner Sutton Coldfield a couple of years back.
Had a good nose round it and although it looked fantastic i did think it was either an old GPn car or an old promo car that had been dusted off (i.e no GRP A hubs, that sort of thing)

Wanted to try and buy it but SWMBO insisted on buying a 1 series instead.

Bugger.........
We bought it as a standard road car (think its an 89 G) and just stripped it out, caged it and put the livery one. I think about a year later they fitted coil overs but that is probably 10 years ago.

I remember when we first bought it. I drove it to Castle Coombe and did a track day. Something to do with BMW Genuine Parts. It was funny because all the other dealers turned up in their current demos (which were 330CI M Sports and 325TI Compacts with the odd E39 M5 thrown in) and we showed up in an 'old' M3.

Love this idea, a box-arched car used properly!!!! cloud9
I'll second that, JP built the head for my car.

Hey im a Hartge fan but always loved the Hartge livery

Still tempted to put this livery on my touring to replicate a support vehicle

Sorry best pic I can find. I have the E30 touring, the wheels and the bodykit (rare as rocking horse poo). Just need them fitting, sprayed white and the signwriting.

whats the point in suggesting a "rare as rocking horse poo" bodykit for a rally car ?

its just going to get smashed off on a rock when he cuts a corner he shouldn't, or over cooks a corner that should have been taken a little slower

unless of course you mean, get the kit, then make a fiberglass mold, and use the cheap ( kevlar lined ) copies on the car so smashing it off wont really matter as you can just make more?

Did you miss the bit that says "replicate a support vehicle", not put it on a rally car?
