The original article when it was announced said it was bored out rather than stroked - a long-perpetuated error on PH it seems!

I'm guessing that the press embargo on first drives is about to expire. I think PDK will be fine and especially with shorter gearing. EPAS is my biggest concern. It's interesting to note that not only have Porsche allowed the press to drive the 918 but have given passenger rides as well but done neither so far with the 991 GT3 despite scathing criticism. 918 sales must be REALLY bad.

My favourite GT3? The 4.0 RS of course but, other than that, it's got to be the 997.2 GT3 but maybe I'm biased smile

Oops, now corrected. My heart went cold when I saw the link to the original article because I'd had a chat with Preuninger on the launch about the lack of metal in the block for increased bore:

Preuninger said:
...admits the 3.8 RS's flat six is "not a tractor engine" but by increasing the stroke - there was literally not enough metal in the block for any increase in bore - with the same crank as used in the half million pound RSR race car they wrung out those final few hp and lb ft. New heads, cams and shorter, wider inlet tracts also play their part in the astonishing 125hp per litre specific output.
So the piece I wrote on it was right, it was Riggers who made that 'much perpetuated' initial cock-up. Not that I'm passing the buck or anything! Hopefully it stops here.

Cheers!

997 GT3 RS Gen 1 in Orange.

Amazing looking, especially chasing one through the streets of London in a Mini biggrin

However we should have just a "Any GT3" button biggrin

An easy mistake to make if rushing to get articles published these days. Stay the course Dan! I've very much enjoyed your work with PH. smile

A 997 GT3 is the best car I have driven, much better than the 997 GT2.

Just chuckling that I still managed to successfully blame it on Riggers and he doesn't even work here any more!

I *knew* I'd had that chat with Preuninger too! Just needed to find the relevant quote.

Time to step back from the keyboard...

Can't get on with the looks of the 4.0. Look a bit.. silly.

996 Mk1 or Mk2 for me for understated looks and purity of purpose. Mk2 arguably the better car.

But quite frankly they are all thoroughly excellent and surprisingly useable gems.

7.2 GT3RS, the ultimate and accessible by far more people. AND most important, can be driven as quickly as the 4.0RS and no fear of value dropping.

The 4.0RS will always be worth good money especially if bought new.

Agreed ( and I voted for the 4.0) ,though I suspect a lot will be kept with very low miles. My 3.8 is
more than enough for me, and I use it rather than try to keep it as a collector car.....

They are all utterly fabulous cars, and all have their strengths.

Money no object, I'd have the 4.0, but I reckon a non-RS 7.2 would have the best road/track compromise.
