Has anyone any experience of these in comparison to the likes of the 3.2 ClubSport, 964 RS or 993 RS? I'm talking more from an enjoyment/rawness/connected sort of point of view, not necessarily 0-100 or lap times
This is one of about twenty GT3s that I spotted at the 'Ring a couple of weeks ago, although there were plenty of AMG Blacks lurking about too (SLK/CLK/C-Coupes):

As you might guess from my forum name, I'm lucky enough to have a 993RS and a GT3 (997.1). They are like chalk and cheese. The 993 is visceral in a way that the later (water-cooled) cars just aren't. Lighter and smaller, its much more nimble (feels like it carries proportionally more speed through a corner), but slower (mine gives away about 100bhp to the GT3 but is roughly 100kg lighter). The suspension is harsher, yet less well controlled that the later cars (as you would expect). The engine is a major difference - the 993 pulls cleanly from sub 1500rpm all the way to the red line (7500 ish) and is eminently tractable, whilst the GT3 needs (lots of) revs. The Mezger engine is special though - sounds like its going to tear itself to pieces and when the exhaust valves open at 4000 rpm it chases round to the redline in no time. This is one of about twenty GT3s that I spotted at the 'Ring a couple of weeks ago, although there were plenty of AMG Blacks lurking about too (SLK/CLK/C-Coupes):
If I had to choose between them, then it would be difficult. A drive in the 993 is always very special, but you have to be on your game and respect it - you can't just drive it quickly without full concentration. The GT3 is alot quicker, but in many ways an easier and more relaxing drive. The 993 is a keeper - its appreciating nicely and is generally acknowledge is the ultimate normally aspirated, air-cooled 911. I could be persuaded to part with the GT3 (especially for a 4.0RS), as long as there was something else of its ilk in the garage. There's not much else that gets near it for a road car that takes to the track like it does.

No, as it came from the factory.
Wow, must have been a special order colour? Lovely car.993RSGT3 said:
I believe so, as I acquired it when it was just over a year old. I understand that the first owner had bought a large number of new 911s in the past, so asked "how much" and Porsche obliged. It's actually the same colour as the 997.1 GT3RS (which it often gets mistaken for)
So I see. Did you buy it with the graphics also (assume wheels were painted when new)? I'm thinking of a similar look for mine.993RSGT3 said:
