I'm guessing I'll be alone in saying the A-Class is the far better looking of the two?!

No, I agree that it's better looking thant he 1-series. But I think that's called "damning with faint praise".

It's just so ugly. IMO only, of course.

I like it but I'd not have it over the M135i...

With the imminent M235i BMW are winning in the looks department too. Around 5k cheaper too.

Yes, not just an A class, an AMG one.

If that is too much for you, then you can buy a diesel stbox version for around £18k, or if that is still too much, you can buy a mk1 A class for about £2k which would be full of dents and farted in thousands of times.

Sure most people would end up with mpg in the 20's with this.

... may well be more fun, but the A is a much faster car.

Are you sure it will be though? (faster that is) They have very similar power to weight ratios with only 18hp/tonne separating them, the AMG will have the traction advantage off the line but on a give and take road I doubt you could tell the difference.

Anyone else think that carbonfibre trim is starting to look naff, overused and a bit 'dorky bloke'?

With rolls of carbonfibre wrap now relatively cheap, and every yoof with a Saxo/Nova/Civic/etc coating everything from their dash to their wheels in 'carbon', it's all a bit Saturday night McDs car park.

Or maybe I'm just getting old getmecoat

Surely the key quote is "it can feel leaden and flat-footed on the road".
In addition it's expensive and has questionable looks.
Leaves me cold to be honest.

Still can't get past the "oh fk we forgot the console screen, hang on, we'll just screw it on, right here... done!". When they do a refresh I bet that gets changed.

They should do a 3 door version.

Oh and be cheaper - but its not alone on that all new stuff is way too expensive.

I think its far better looking than the 135/235, which are frankly pig ugly.

Honestly, I simply meant that it'd have better published performance figures. That's what buyers seem to look for.

I think performance is pretty irrelevant on the road past a point well below either car.

Hmmm.

Good to see that the reviews are starting to come through, shame this one doesn't really tell us much IMHO.
