Not fussed one bit. I could just about stomach a hybrid but aside from a curiosity of will it actually work" this doesn't interest me one bit as a car, be it race or road.

Then not much for you to see as the Deltawing ran at LM last year. It clearly works.

Great to see Nissan pushing new technology at LeMans but why oh why the DeltaWing. I was hoping we had seen the last of this thing.
Why? What's wrong with experimenting?

"What the hell was that?", said the anus 1 minute later.
Forgive me but I have no idea what you're on about mate.

All I know is that this car is genuinely different thinking applied to a race-track and even if it doesn't work out I for one applaud Nissan for seeing how far they can go with it.

The ZEOD looks like it needs a much wider front track! Why is it so narrow?
to reduce drag and allow a much lower power and fuel/tyre consumption for the same performance. At least that was the theory behind the Deltawing and this is very, very similar.
Correct zebedee! Apparently when Deltawing was evaluated prior to and in preparation for Le Mans it was found the aero efficiency / downforce on the front axle was unnecessarily high and which would have therefore slowed the car, increased tyre wear and reduced fuel consumption. Despite the very narrow tyres understeer was not compromised when downforce was reduced. Drivers reported how reassuringly grippy the Deltawing proved to be and without the understeer they had feared.
Nissan and its collaborators are to be massively congratulated on their commitment to innovation in motorsport and the Garage 56 ethos promoted by the ACO at Le Mans is a perfect fit with ZEOD.
Mr Panoz, unfortunately you missed a serious opportunity!

Doppelkupplungsgetriebe?
(PS You've got to love the old German compound nouns!)
Doppelkupplungsgetriebe..

Ein Doppelkupplungsgetriebe ist ein automatisiertes Schaltgetriebe, das mittels zweier Teilgetriebe einen vollautomatischen Gangwechsel ohne Zugkraftunterbrechung ermöglicht.

ODER!

P.s. Love this permutation of the Deltawing. Gotta be the first racing car with a Jiddish-ish name? Zeod.

Pps I'd really, really dig a road going version. biggrin

all they need to do is increase the front track by 10mm and it should go faster, then another 10mm, and so on.

Not sure I agree.

I'd love a covered, high MPG, single seater to take just me and my bag to work along the motorway. Simplistically speaking halve the width of cars on the motorway you double the capacity. Low weight, low drag high MPG.

Perfect commuting vehicle.

Why?

Increasing the front track will simply increase the aero drag and slow the car down. The Delta Wing had plenty of downforce and excellent turn in The ZEOD will be no different in that respect.
