His widow probably feels somewhat differently?
Hmmm, you've spectacularly missed the point ol' fruit. I was incredulous at your logic, not the guy's death.

Agreed. But answer my question smile

Did he deserve to die?
Well, if he was in those built up areas using a different weapon just as threateningly, he'd (hopefully) be shot dead by the police or shot and committed to a mental institution as a danger to society. Lets not forget it wasn't just once.

Using that logic, I would reluctantly have to say yes.

Its not the same as waving a gun around in public, its the same as firing it at people and trying to miss.

So you don't think he was a dick to drive like he did on the public roads?

It's a shame for his widow. It's probably good him crashing didn't wipe anybody else out.

Also, further to some comments above, yes we might all "enjoy the odd dab of oppo" but we don't (at least I dammed well hope nobody on PH does) do it in crowded town centres at 3x the speed limit or anywhere where we are likely to injure anyone except our own stupid selves smile
So where DO you draw the line?

If you have to ask the question 'is this an acceptable risk to everyone around me' the answer is normally that it's not. Why is this so difficult for some people to understand? If you want to drive at 9-10/10ths go to the track.

My point is that you, me, Gladys and the driver in this video ALL have different ideas on that point. (My bold.)

Absolutely spot on IMO. Amazing how many people are unable to think the obvious.

LOL, the 'obvious' is obviously not obvious to everyone!

(FWIW I'm not defending the guy, never have and never will. But I'm asking where we draw the line if some illegal action is ok and other illegal action isn't.)

Its not really about a POV?

'Am I driving in a manner that is a risk to others' Y/N

All driving carries risk. My point is that there's a threshold at which the risk becomes unacceptable and that threshold is different for each observer.

If there is no risk to anyone else (and it can be guaranteed) fine. Drive how you want, the risks can be selfish to your loved ones but thats up to you.

But as for whilst sharing the space with other road users and pedestrians, the levels of risk doing 80 on a motorway when everyone else is doing it and driving like this guy are wildly different

I enjoyed watching the video, if that's even the right word... and no, no one 'deserves to die' but he was an idiot and unfortunately got what was coming to him.

Did he kill anyone? No. Did his driving lead to his own death? No.

I'm not condoning reckless driving, far from it. I'm just saying that any loss of life is tragic, especially when the person is so young.

Time some of you showed some respect I think.

Not good news. But having said that, I am glad he is off the road before he eventually killed an innocent motorist or pedestrian.

Shame really, he had a talent that's for sure, shame he didn't take it to the track, as for the he deserves to die brigade, you have all gone way down my estimation, he died in a horrendous car accident , he was a passenger, whether or not he would have had an accident or not is a moot point, the comments about this being the Daily Mail are fitting.

You only need to watch a few seconds of the video up the page to see he had it coming.

All this RIP, a wasted talent etc. is just crap. Better them than someone else.
