There was this Bertone Rapide Shooting Brake, I think that still looks decent. The aston grille shaped boot lid/hatch might be a bit OTT, other than that, I like.

Very nice and fixes the headroom problem of the Rapide, but apparently the wheelbase is the same and so the legroom is still for ickle people.

A lovely thing though.

Cheapest Panamera - <£63K incl VAT
Cheapest Rapide - >£147K

Is it really that strange?

toppstuff's next revelation, Ford sell more Fiestas than Bugatti sell Veyrons.
So how do you explain that most Panamera's sold internationally have been Turbo's and V8's, costing £100k plus, much closer in price to the Aston?

Aston planned to make 2000 Rapides a year and they have scaled that back by some 75%.... Meanwhile, a Turbo S is now pushing 140k with options and production is expanded.

So it is more likely explained by the fact that the Panamera is better suited to its purpose and therefore has more appeal.
£100K plus is still nearly two thirds the price of the Aston, or about an Exige V6 cheaper. £65K is closer to the price of the Aston than £63K, it still doesn't mean they occupy the same price bracket.

A Turbo S with options is still cheaper than a Rapide without options? It's still a cheaper car.

Whichever way you want to spin it, the Panamera is a cheaper option which will no doubt go some way to explain why they've sold ten times as many as Aston have sold Rapides. I'm not saying it's the only factor, just a contribution.

Sorry but as Althea and Donna observed "No pomp, no style".

For me, I would only buy a Rapide as it has beauty. Couldn't care less who fits in it.

Slight thread resurrection, however considering a facelift petrol model - hate diesel and told the hybrids really only do 30mpg when the mains charge is cleared.

So the GTS looks wonderful to me - any knows issues or weaknesses? Would this cost more to run than a 997 out of warranty (excluding engine)?

Thanks!
