Here we go the roller coaster starts today.

So who's going to win?

Will this be the year Murray does us all proud?

How much will the Strawberrys cost this year?

Will the weather hold out?

COME ON ANDY

Turned it off. Can't stand all this grunting, it's about time they stopped it.

I think if I was there I might be inclined to shout out just as she serves, "For fks sake STOP fking grunting".

Hope she bloody looses.

I used to like watching tennis at one time.

Nadal having a hard 1st set! Always difficult 1st match! Should need power supply on the remote control for Nadal and Murray match at the same time!

Something wrong for sure with his knee and movement but not his serve!

Well I'll get this off my chest early. 2 Brits out already. To be fair Edmund is the next great white hope for us so we'll see but Baltacha ? Reckon Mandela would beat her. Overweight and slow. She was exactly the same last year so you have to question those around her. I'm actually glad the LTA is under funding scrutiny from the Sports Council. So little to show for all that money. They cannot even claim Murray as one of theirs. Tennis in this country is just part of the white middle class social calendar sadly. I can't believe there aren't a whole load of black or white working class kids with some talent who'd love the chance to have a go and be coached properly but I guess the LTA just aren't on their radar. It is not like the rewards for success are shabby either v becoming a footballer. Rant over !

Yup looks like his left knee is fecked. Should still win against Darcis but very worrying for the rest the tournament.

There are lots of them. But football is easier to earn in. Tennis is a very tough sport as an individual sport and it requires a serious amount of cash. Not motorsport cash, but you have to travel the world weekly (ideally with a coach) and that isn't cheap. Lots of player stop simply because of lack of funding and people get VERY tight on tour when money is running out and their performance suffers accordingly. Besides, lots of the British players will be coming from a comfy lifestyle (compared to some of the guys from Eastern Europe), have a soft background (unlike the guys from Eastern Europe), have something else to do other than tennis (unlike the guys from Eastern Europe) and have countrymen/media that don't support them and push them to succeed on their journey (unlike any other country). See the old Murray thread for a perfect example. wink

Nadal in a very deep hole now. His body is finished, far too much punishment with his game style which gave him this correct seeding. Held up for the clay but I was highly doubtful he'd make it to the end of this season, or even play beyond it.

Forgot he got knocked out last year in the 1st round last year in one of the best match I've seen for ages. This one seems to be a repeat.

This chap is playing him off the court, unbelievable stuff!

Looks like Murrays had his wobble and is hopefully back on track now.

Like the Wimbledon app on android! Can get live match statistics on any live match and is relatively quick on the update on scores!

It seems Nadal is going down the Lleyton Hewitt route - lots of success at a relatively young age however his style of play means he'll never have the longevity of a Federer or Sampras.
