DPF delete illegal?

Yes. But the VED rate for your vehicle is set at time of manufacture and not affected by subsequent modification either way (i.e. whether modified for more power, or more economy)
Otherwise every chipped turbo out there would be in a new tax band, and/or people would be getting prosected in droves,
The drop a V8 in a Prius gambit. VED = £0Otherwise every chipped turbo out there would be in a new tax band, and/or people would be getting prosected in droves,
I was thinking about this on my Alfa 159 2.4. When having some work done at a specialist we spoke about this. They remove the DPF and replace it with a genuine Alfa part used over the channel because they don't have them fitted as standard. Is that right I wondered.
Then he gave me the bill and I decided I had treated it to nice things already that day.
Bloomin tempting though, DPF removal and remap.

the requirement about catalytic converters is the same thing, just a different component. It's illegal not to have them where originally fitted now,
That's true for 1 August 1992-onwards stuff but not for anything produced before that date. Which is handy if you have a 1990 car originally (optionally) fitted with a cat.Pages 4 and 5 of this document refer:

Load of bks... That would mean blanked off/ non functioning EGR's are illegal too
Wouldn't it? and they DO affect particulate levels.
Do they? They're about reducing NOx emissions due to reducing the temperature of combustion under high speed driving, and have very little/nowt to do with PM10 (particulates sized at around 10micrometres) emissions.Wouldn't it? and they DO affect particulate levels.
