Need some help with my daughters car. She's 20, on her own in New Zealand and her car wont start. It's a 95 Subaru Legacy that wont turn over on the key. Apparently the radio works but thats all I know. Where do I start to help her?

Flat battery? Sounds like it to me. Enough juice for the radio but not to crank the engine. heck the headlights haven't been left on. Also check how bright they are as if they are dim then I definitely suspect the battery is US.

Earlier in the year I had the same thing, called the AA, he got me to turn the key whilst he hit my starter motor with an iron rod and it fired up (stuck solenoid). It's a simple thing to try although probably difficult to do if she is on her own.

Good point abou the petrol but it's not even turning over so probably not that.
I suspect battery too and have asked her to check the headlights worka dn are bright.
I also suspect the starter motor and have asked her to rock it backwards and forwards in gear. I'll get her to whack the start but is it accesssible?

I've never been to New Zealand so I probably can't help. Sorry.

Get them out to look into the car. Very unlikely the fourms on the other side of the world will fix it.

Without looking the place up, I'd assume that's a town. Tell her to ask someone for help.

You say she's an adult?
