Can't speak for any of the others, but you can see in my garage how much the RS6 has cost me in the last year and 5.5K miles. A year in which I had to replace the apparently astronomically expensive front brakes and have some bodywork done.

Mines on a replacement box on lowish miles and coilovers done by a previous owner.

Personally I love it and I'm glad I went for it instead of the S6 as I'd have spent all my time lusting after the flagship.
Oh that's cheap running costs, lucky you. smile
In one 12 month period I had:
Tyres x 4 = £880
Brake pads, discs front and rear = £1050
Front brake discs and padss knackered due to my own fault = ~£600
Brake servo failure = £1000
Turbo failure, horn replacement, oil leaks fixed, brake fluid, cambelt + spark plug service = £6700

Total over 10k. smile

Is it worth it?
Well, there's nothing else like it, it's a sledgehammer and carries everything and me in comfort. smile

Thanks chap, seems reasonable for what it offers. Are you on a low mileage insurance deal? I'm paying £480 on a group 16 car, I'm 42, 9 years NCB but not the best postcode apparently. I better do my homework on what a group 20 (or whatever that is on the new system) will cost.
Mine is about £400 for a remapped car with Admiral. Younger than you but good postcode.

A good Evo 8/9 fits the bill. Surprisingly cheap to run, especially if you're handy with a spanner.

Impreza WRX STI hatches (08) are extremely cheap for what you get too.
Thanks stotty. I had an Evo 6 some years ago and honestly it cost me junior supercar money to maintain. Mind you I did drive it (how not to upset charlesdegaulle) without much mechanical sympathy and if I touch the spanners it always ends up costing me more laugh

Or possibly another alternative is a Jag XJR?

A very nice Lexus LS for 10 grand.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-LEXUS-LS430-PREMIUM...

Masses of electricals and toys, Japanese build quality, insanely comfortable and will do that mileage at least 5 times again with ease.

And a bit of change.

Oh and it has a fridge.
