I'm not talking to reduce tax or fuel bills but to actually help save the planet. I ask as I have not yet met anybody that has decided to get rid of the V8 or other gas guzzler to be green, it's usually financial reasons.

So have you helped to save the rest of us?

Well, if someone sells it to be green, what do they think the buyer is going to be doing with it? It's still going to get driven!

no, because it makes no bloody difference to the environment

for every small amount of co2 your V6/V8or V12 pumps out

China is dwarfing that a million times over

enjoy driving your gas guzzler

I think you are right, rarely do you hear anyone saying how green their diesel is , it's simply an obsession with miles per gallon.

If manufactures had to print a figure for the number of poisonous hydrocarbons and other toxic rubbish the greenys would soon change their tone.

Surely the greenest thing you can do it keep it? If you sell it you'll only be a fuelling someone buying a brand new car and someone scrapping their old car (in the buying/selling chain). Which in itself is not 'green' at all.

No, but I once sold a green car. Does that count?

my theory is buy V8s, V10s, V12s etc as invention is born out of necessity. As humans we haven't run out of oil yet, when we do, someone will invent a 'better' alternative.

Until then, use as much as you can to speed up that process!

I do - I buy big used cars in order to recycle the maximum possible amount of scarce resources in one lump.

My green credentials are impeccable.

No, because helping the environment doesn't mean not emitting CO2, so it would be somewhat stupid to do so.

Now, campaigning to stop deforestation, educating people about the damage to the planet by the mining for "eco" batteries, trying to prevent the wholesale slaughter of sharks etc - I do these things.

I wouldnt sell a car because it wasnt green. I dont believe CO2 has a noticeable impact on the climate.
However, i wouldnt buy a sooty diesel if i did most of my miles in the city. I would take used engine oil to the tip rather than tip it at the bottom of my garden and i dont pee in rivers.

My v8 is great!

As for running out of fuel, that is a complete myth. Yes, its getting harder to recover, but we are no where near running out! I have no figures but i suspect we have 80 years or more of fossil fuel left.
Look how far tech has come on in the last 80 years! There will never be an energy problem.

I've sold a car to use less fuel. That was more to save money than be green though.
