Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

Me and some friends are thinking of doing a charity banger rally soon and are looking for ideas of which one is best!

Obviously being freshly released college students, finances are tight. We'd need time to save up to get cheap wheels and some money for insurance.

I heard the Scally Rally was meant to be good but that appears to have gone under...

looking for one scheduled for a few months from now but there may not be any. maybe one next summer?

all money raised will go to charity

Myself, brother, BIL and sister used these guys:

http://www.wackyrally.co.uk/

For a rally that took us across to the east edge of France and then south before again turning east to finish in Budapest.

They seem to have reigned in the programme a little and now offer a single rally option but it was pretty well presented and attended.

We used a Mondeo estate that I got from ebay for £160 and actually it did us proud. There was perhaps a 10% attrition rate on the rally and about 30 entrants (many of whom put far more effort into their cars than us)

However, there was good camaraderie and we enjoyed ourselves as well as raising close to 2k for Help for Heroes. There were prizes for the winners and one team chose to donate their own winnings to us (HFH) which was a massively kind gesture and really showed the spirit of the rally.

That said the fuel, border, hotel and drinks costs were horrendous so do bear that in mind. As a cautionary tale I also took my Alpine stereo out of the car and took it home in my luggage on the Easyjet flight. I now know exactly what happens when a passenger has a suspicious item in their luggage and this isn't something I recommend.....

Edit - I just did my 'in my head maths' and I reckon it cost me, and therefore everyone in the car about £700 EACH (ferry, food, flights, drinks etc) so be prepared for a hefty whack.
