GSP with regard to new company cars appearing after averyone was given a pay cut, this `could' be down to the fact that for company cars there is often a lead in time for ordering vehicles. So the cars in question may have been ordered some months in advance before problems in teh company were fully realised,and such orders often come with onerous cancellation penalties if ordered vehicles are not taken. (e.g it costs more to cancel the order than to go ahead with it)
Having read most of the postings on this subject it seems that like in any walk of life, there are good managers / employees ,ad very bad managers / employees. the trick is being in or getting into
a company where both managers and employees are mainly good. Good managers without a good workforce are usually dead in the water. Good employess without a good manager at the helm are equally stuffed.
The view that some seem to hold here that all managers are super intelligent super business heroes is just as much bo**ocks as the view that all employees are lazy work shy sh*ts. As usual the real picture is a little mopre complicated and less black and white than that.

Perhaps another example would be in my own work role, where a fault developed in a large project where our products were used. (The project managers did NOT consult us beforehand in the correct use
of the product,which lead to a fault situation where they were looking for remedial work and compensation which in their view amounted to £378.000 worth of work.
I was sent to investigate, and following my discovery that our producs had been used incorrectly which was verified by no less than 3 independent testing houses, the claim against our company was dismissed. So in two days of my work time I had protected my company in a way which avoide them having to pay out a collossal sum in remedial works and compensation. For doing this, guess what I got from the company?????

Your salary?A bonus related to your performance on such matters as promised in your contract?
A pat on the back?
An extra slice of turkey at the Christmas dinner?
PAYE, you can exercise choice. If you don't like things move on, or renegotiate contracts/salaries etc.
If you are so good and under-valued at PAYE then start your own business and reap the financial reward.
You can't have it both ways in the remuneration stakes.

That's what you'd probably get from me. People make massive money-saving decisions and investigations all the time. It's their job; what they're paid for.
Are you implying that you haven't got something extra or....?

I have on numerous occasions discussed my profession, and commented on numerous "should I go back to uni / change my career?" posts also with very detailed info about my profession, and plans to return to uni and make a career change.
I have never suggested in the years that I have been on PH that I employ people, or have a company turning over millions (which it would be if I had a wages bill of £100k like in the example I gave).
Maybe you should stop trying to catch me out on something that you have invented. I read from your other posts on this thread that our opinions actually seem to mirror each others - why are you so keen to attempt to make me look bad?
Read through my posts if you can be bothered - you will see I have always been quite open about the ownership of my car and my business etc. Why would I make something up randomly that contradicts everything I've posted over the last few years???

I can't say I'm appalled by his sentiments, and based on the range of opinions in the thread, I'm not sure other posters see the OP in quite the black and white terms you are using.

In complete contrast, I work for a huge Global Corporate Company, where our EMEA President who is knowingly on almost seven figure salary turns work every day in a very modest circa 9-10 year old silver Mercedes CLK220. A very personable, professional and overall nice guy!
I'm reliably informed he owns some serious exotica with a prancing pony on the bonnet, but chooses not to rub his success in the noses of his employees.
