On a side note, 50p a litre for fuel in Kazakhstan? Makes your blood boil when currently filling up at £1.34 on home shores...
If the choice is paying UK prices or living in Kazakhstan, I'll keep paying. It's the price of civilisation apparently. (brushes fact that its almost as hot as the sun outside right now).
..OP maximum respect to you, I am very jealous!

Next road trip suggestion - Caterham to Antarctica..!!
Funny you should say that; there is actually a seasonal ice road from Mucmurdo Sound to the South Pole, so hypothetically a Caterham to the pole is possible, if incredibly difficult to get permission for and organise. Predictably, this possibility has also been subject to a pub conversation, and we came to the conclusion that the only vehicle which would do the trip justice would be a '59 Cadillac convertible. In pink. fitted with Mattracks (www.mattracks.com). The next 'real' big trip is somewhat more mundane - I'm very much drawn to South America. And as for the trip car? well, I'm keeping shush at this stage... http://80breakdowns.com/2013/07/01/the-perfect-tri...

Awesome. Instead of selling the car, why not sell the return journey?!!
...well if anyone wants to drive a 'Vette back from SE Asia - and keep a thread updated with their progress - I'm all ears! By the way, thanks for all the positive comments folks - they're really appreciated. As the road trip is still underway, I'll be keeping the V8Nam thread updated for a while yet (until I sell/crash/ship home the car) so feel free to follow the rest of the trip there...

Is it required in order that you can apply for back-up in the event of any issues? Who is it you have to apply to?
Secondly... Mattracks. Just yes.

I'm intrigued by this.

I think the issue is more that pretty much all ships to and from the Antarctic are either owned - or chartered - by the various governments with Antarctic territories, so you're going to have to go through a government somewhere, and as the aforementioned ice road is re-made by the US each year, I guess you'll need them onside to use it. And as you say, that's before anything goes wrong...First... permission. I don't really understand or appreciate the "ownership" of Antarctica. Amazing road trip, I didn't realise that you completed it alongside the Rolls also!
Just out of interest as I live not too far away - how much do you want for the C4?
Hi Wolvesboy, hopefully this doesn't violate posting guidelines: the C4 is currently milling around SE Asia with a price-tag in the region of its market value in the UK on it...Just out of interest as I live not too far away - how much do you want for the C4?
